Hey guys

i know a few of you have done the 1.6 conversions in your sierras and what we need to know when fitting the starter motor to the new 1.6 do you need the spacer from the kit because we can get it on fine without it but with it on the bottom bolt wont start. also on a side note how much do you need to grind off to make it sit right.

Cheers

this may help..

what i found when i done the 1.6 into my 93 sierra, i used my original (93) 5 speed,clutch,flywheel.
ground down the starter till the bolts lined up and bolted the starter in (no starter spacer)..
worked fine.
however i had to pull the box out a few weeks later so i put a older sierra 5 speed & flywheel in
as it had been rebuilt. same starter with no spacer. and when i started it it took part of the teeth off the
flywheel 8O
so i think the starter motor (spacer) depends on which clutch, flywheel your runin..
