Looking at some of the recovery points in the link above- ARB bars need holes drilled to be fitted aswell? And trimming of the bumper mounting plates?
Cheers

This is what I did for the front of mine. I used lengths of tube inside the chassis that the bolts fit through to ensure the bolts don't tear or bend the chassis. For the rear, I sust fitted a Hayman Reece towbar with a hitch.

Crush tubes won't stop the chassis from bending or tearing. They only stop it from crushing ( under the tension of the bolt ) Your rails are still only 2.5mm thick. Still, what you have there is better than nothing.

So far, I havn't had any issues with them. But then again, I've never really gotten it badly stuck. They were meant to be a temp fix, till I could afford a front bar. They have been on for over a year now lol

Yikes, points for ingenuity. Ive been using the ARB bar with a bridle between the 2 holes on the front of the car. Some ARB blokes say its ok to use, others say its not a snatch point..... kinda dont know what to think really. My gut says that using a equaliser bridle across both of them should be more than enough.

From reading some of the previous posts, people should remember what vehicle they have before undertaking some of these recoveries. As Pete said, the chassis rails or only 2.5mm designed for the forces implied by the Jimny's weight not trying to recovery big vehicles, obviously it'll only impart the force it can generate but when that's trying to move an immoveable object something got give, and it's going be the zook

The bolt on plates in the links look shithouse especially the rear as i have also ripped that off. Every time someone comes up with an idea people point out the faults (of which is very helpful) but it would be good to have some one explain what a good design would entail, for us noobies. I am not having a stab at anyone i would just some good ideas on what a good, strong and safe design would require?

MIC Rear Bar and Front bar are good for providing recovery points. Rear bar is really solid thick steel and bolts directly to the rear chasis legs. You got two mounts for attaching a shcakle, each near where the bar bolts to the each chasis legs and the tow bar in the middle that you can use as a recovery point. On the front you got the same. somewhere to but a shackle right near where the winch plate bolts directly to the chasis legs, and you got another tow bar hitch again inbetween the two, although I'll warn you that tow bar hitch is not to be given as much abuse as the rear hitch.

I advise doing that.
