I have a Vitara with a auto locker in the rear and Ive been noticing some strange noises as of late. It sounds like a sudden harsh 'clunk' noise. When it does happen though its very obvious and it sends a violent jolt through the car. I think it may be something to do with the diff or something in the rear end. I'm not really sure where to start looking as every nut and bolt is tight and there are no visible leaks coming from anywhere. When i jack the car up i can spin one wheel independently of the other as long as the diff doesn't decide to lock. It happens maybe once every time I'm driving but it seems to be random. But I think its happening a bit more frequently lately. I'd be happy if someone said its nothing to worry about and that's what auto lockers do. But the fact that its only started happening recently makes me think otherwise.
Any who does anyone have any idea what it might be?

If the car has had the locker in for a while and has just started making the noise then yes something is wrong. I have had an autolocker in my sierra for 3 years now and it's still working fine. The locker might need to be re-shimmed or something?
