1) Should i get a 2" or 3" lift kit (Whats the pos and neg??)

2) What size winch would i need???

3) Would i need a dual battery system or just a bigger battery to handle the winch and the spotties and the rest of the car????

4) What size muddies can i put on? think a 2" lift with 30"muddies or 31" with 3" lift ( do i even have to go that big??)

5) Anyone selling >>> Muddies or Transfer case guard??

Hi MikeyS, mate if you search you should find some others with coily's, have a look at their builds and read their comments on what they have done and what worked for them. I will answer your questions from my own perspective which some will disagree with and other will agree with.

The whole matter of "what should I do" is a subjective one and open to a lot of personal views. Most will agree that it will all come down to what you are using the car for, since you have chosen a Jimny I will assume you want to use the car as a daily driver that can comfotably travel distances and still be capable offroad so this is how I would answer your questions.

1) Should i get a 2" or 3" lift kit (Whats the pos and neg??) - 2" is the most commonly used

2) What size winch would i need??? - 5000lb - 6000lb seems to be commonly used, you may get away with something smaller, it is a light vehicle but you may need to account for winching a loaded vehicle uphill over obstacles. I wouldn't go bigger than 8000lb, having fitted a few for people they are too big, too heavy and quite bulky, the question is do you even need a winch? if you travel with other cars and don't go serious offroad exploring by yourself you will probably never use it.

3) Would i need a dual battery system or just a bigger battery to handle the winch and the spotties and the rest of the car???? - dual batteries are ideal if you are running lots of stuff, especially fridges etc that are going to be drawing power while the engine is off, but they are not essential for winch and spotties, a good alternator to ensure battery is still getting charged while you are running lights, winch etc is probably more important.

4) What size muddies can i put on? think a 2" lift with 30"muddies or 31" with 3" lift ( do i even have to go that big??) - I think 235/75/15 on a 7" -13 offset rim is a good size that will give you some offroad performance without affecting your vehicles power too greatly.

5) Anyone selling >>> Muddies or Transfer case guard?? - I believe Fatzook sells transfer case guards.

These are just my views so hope they help.

I thought 215/75r15 was the largest you could fit on a Jimny without bumpstop spacers or cutting.

You could be right Matthew, he may need to do other mods to make whatever he chooses work for him, without lift etc he may have to run 215's (which in fact look pretty good on a Jimny)

215/75/15 is the largest size recommended without gearing changes. The 235's may well be made to fit but IMO will tip it over the edge for gearing.

Agreed. I tried almost worn out 235s. They scrubbed and the screwed the gearing. 215s were excellent. Only time i wished I had 235s was when i kept sitting on the diff pumpkin following bogga, who had 235s and made it :evil:

I had 235s on my 04 Jim, and it was a slug. If i had another near stock one i would definitely go 215s

Thank you soooo much for your help and i will use am using this car just to get to work and offroading every chance i get i have just finished school and have started a apprenticeship that is why i chose the cheaps but quality little monster :)

i just bought a 2" lift and rear locker (ARB) for my jimny and now i just need to find a good 215/70/15 mud tyre! :) Do you guys know any good brands that have a muddies in that size ??

I've seen a few blokes using Hankook muddies an that size and I do believe BFG do the same.
