I have the dreaded scourge rust in my coily.
Consequently, I have holes in the footwells, floorpan, etc, that I need to fix.

Am hoping to weld some sheet mild steel in.

What thickness do people tend to use for this with the most success?

I have seen a few pics of people in their build up posts doing this kinda thing and wondered what works out best thickness wise.

Where does one get this panel steel?

For most of my rust repairs I use old car panels.
For several reasons...
1, Recycling is good
2, It's also cheap
3, Car panels have a phosphate coating which inhibits rust. (The older the panel the better coating).
Old door skins and roof turrets are the go but for a footwell a door skin would be plenty large enough.
Wreckers will probably give you an old door.
