Vitara 1994 1.6lt Auto with O/D

When pulling off from a standstill in Drive I can feel a jerking as if the box is changing up and down.

Once the car is doing about 10kph it seems fine.

If I put the box in Low and pull off it seems fine.

Any Ideas please.

I am off on Sunday for a heart operation so will be a week or so before I am back on line after that.

I assume you've checked oil level? What colour is the oil? Have you checked uj's and other suspension components for play?

Thanks for the reply Scrawn - Yes oil is OK in level and colour and it is definitely the box.

Is it the AW4 box? Are the bands adjustable in those boxes?

I don't know - How do I tell? It is the normal 3 speed with OD IE 4 speed. This is the first Auto I have ever had and I am 67 :oops:

Not trying to be smart did you check the oil level with the car running?

Yes - But it also has marks for running/not running levels.

Just got back from hospital and a heart op so it will be a few weeks before I will be able to cheak it all out
