One regrettable sale – Black Dog, 91 wt Sierra 1.6
SOLD TODAY!!!

UPDATED Mon 30th Jun/2014: SCROLL TO BOTTOM

Hi all, sadly I have made the reluctant decision to sell my baby. No expense was spared when building this rig, some elements include new 1.6EFI Motor, new custom double cardan heavy duty drive shafts, see full specs below. This post is to see if there is much interest in purchasing the vehicle as is, with safety cert. Current kms on this motor: 2254kms

Build thread (outdated): http://auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17098

Latest Specs.
- 1.6ltr Vitara G16B, new head, machined block, new pistons (bored and honed to next size). Not far out of the 1000kms run-in with proper loading to bed the rings. Professionally wired (Also, all new connectors replaced with ip67 water/dustproof connectors), ECU extra high mount (for river forwarding). Mod plated for engine, two seater and bucket seats.
- 2” exhaust system
- Extractors
- LED Reverse lights
- 4.16 Low range transfer reduction gears
- Longranger 70L long range tank
- Calmini Safari soft top roof rack (From US)
- Tuffy lockable security box
- Custom PST Front and Rear heavy duty double cardan drive shafts, (brand new, Amazingly smooth)
- Rock4xfab high clearance transmission mount
- Custom alloy overhead console (designed in CAD) with lockable padded doors, illumination, marine switch panel and tx3100 slimline UHF with ceramic 9db antenna on a massive spring loaded pl259 antenna mount (to suit much bigger ceramic antennas)
- 5x29” Hancook Dynapros MT's with gecko rims (near new condition, just been sitting around during the build)
- Custom rock sliders
- Koni Adjustable shocks (new - So smooth)
- EFS springs (modified for ride comfort and travel)
- Trailtough 1” extended rear shackles
- ARB winch bar
- Interior lined with U-Pol raptor truck bed liner
- Grant Challenger 414 steering wheel
- Narva LED driving lights
- Narva 7” spotties
- A huge amount of LED wash light on the ARB bar and 360degs around roof racks, perfect for extra light around the camp site, or camp site set up at night.
- Swift GTI bucket seats
- Custom ripstop canvas seat covers made by Bulldog trimming (brand new)
- Electronic rust protection
- Ceramic diff breathers
- Fast back MU canvas
- Fibreglass front roof top
- Custom lockable, water resistant, alloy toolbox, designed in CAD with two compartments with gas struts and read-switch triggered illumination and top coated with truck bed liner (although could use another coat). See early tool box designs here in this thread:

http://auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=17114

Condition: Body is in pretty good condition, painted the engine bay while engine was out. Small amount of rust in cills appearing, but repairable. Since I have finished the build, I have only been camping once out near woodford, handled very well off road, although I am very conservative, so nothing extreme.

History: I have had it for about 3years, most of that time it has spent on car lifts while I slowly work on it each night. No dents, a couple of small scratches on the exterior.

When I bought the car (about 20,000kms ago) I also did the following:
- Replaced all axle seals
- Replaced all wheel bearings
- Replaced transmission and transfer oil (after I rebuilt transfer with reduction gears)
- Replaced transfer bearings and seals
- Replaced all seals and joint washers for swivel joints and king pins
- Replaced brake pads and fluid
- Replaced drum pads and cylinders
- Stripped interior and re-painted it with truck bed liner
- Allot of experimentation to get the suspension comfortable with out sacrificing travel
- Unijoints replaced on jackshaft (see new PST front and rear driveshafts above)

Vehicle is running well, and has been meticulously built. All screws and bolts that I have needed to undo have been replaced with the stainless steel equivalents and all work has been done with care and patience. The goal was to set it up as an expedition/touring vehicle and it is almost there. It has been very fun project.

$7700 with toolbox
$7000 without tool box

It's a MU canvas fast back, but they are no longer in business. David from Bulldog trimming is the way to go now, see the business directory.
Also see this thread:

Bulldog Trimming also did my canvas seat covers, great work, great bloke!

I told him not to sell but I believe he has been infected by the Jeep! :P

Pictures do not do justice! This thing even makes lil foot look a little bit shabby when I'm parked next to it! The engine went together very nicely and is super crisp! Engine bay is clean enough to eat off.

I too will vouch for this. I saw the engine in it when it was getting rebuilt. The queen would eat breakfast out of it!

Thanks!

Well I have only just put my first full tank in without having done any fuel line or tank work where I had lost some fuel due to other factors. But now it is doing a bit better my last measurement was 12L/100kms, but I suspect this tank will be below 10L/100kms. Quite comfortable on the road, handles well, rides well, a bit noisy as I pulled out all the melted factory sound deadening, but I can still listen to music fine.

Yes, haven't got the safety yet as there are a few thing I am in the process of fixing. But also moving house, so greeting stuff done is proving to be time consuming.

Sweet. Let me know when you have moved and what not, I'm pretty keen on it. No rush though. :)

Well it's mod plated as a two seater, but the bolt locations are still there, so technically yes. The basket is easily removable and no reason you can't put the standardard soft top on. Probably a good idea, as the MU is getting a bit old.

I am not 100% sure how it would work, you would have to at least get the engineer to update the mod certificate. Most engineers would be happy to give you advice about it over the phone.

I believe you would, as it would only be complianced to take two people (So in the laws eyes, 4 people would exceed the amount of people the car has been deemed safe to opperate with at the point of engineering approval)

Ok, so it's been several months now. Finally got my stuff sorted, however, I don't have much time to get the zook back to spec. So selling as is WITHOUT TOOL BOX (for sale in another thread), registered (New 6months from this June). You can sort your own safety. She'll need a little TLC but drives well with the new 1.6l EFI and new Koni shocks, I fixed most things to meet safety before I moved. Including getting a stock steering wheel and the building of a solid high clearance cross member (on account of heavy duty custom drive shafts which fowled on the old factory one), just depends on who you get. Giving away a stack things with it as well, cleaning out my zook shed, these things include:

Brand new Freebies:
1. Cheap Chinese GPS unit (bought so I could stream Bluetooth music to stereo)
2. 4xNarva LED lights (2xindicator, 2xbrake) (for custom rear bar project which never happened)
3. New fuel filler from low range
4. Shovel mount for roof racks
5. Alloy tire mount high lift jack holder
6. Weld on high lift jack mounts for roof racks
7. Car voltage meter, clock and temp sensor
8. Tuffy cup holder

Old Freebies:
1. Assorted wt drive shafts
2. Detached tow bar
3. Old air con unit
4. 1xwt and 1xnt front diffs
5. Assorted belts and pipes for spares
6. Detached factory steering wheel

axe and shovel mount

Machined alloy high lift spare time mount

GPS Unit with Bluetooth

OLD stuff:

So a great project car with plenty of spares and new toys. Wish I wasn't selling, it has been great fun to build and drive, and I am sure it will bring you many years of fun.

All the foundations are there for one awesome little truck, new 1.6EFI (G16B completely re-built), low range transfer, heavy duty custom front and rear drive shafts, long range fuel tank, massive roof racks, LED spotties all around, ARB winch bar, 5xHancook Dynapro MTs all still with 90-95% Tread on near new steel rims, Swift GTI seats with new custom canvas covers, diff breathers, Tuffy lock box - center console, Solid lockable O/H console with marine switches and UHF, H/duty sports clutch, Projecta digital dual battery isolator (just add a battery), electronic rust protection, plus much more. All fully engineered, registered and ready to go.

Things that would you might have to do for safety that I am aware of:
- Rear axle seals seem to be a little leaky, saw some residue on the back of the drum
- Put on factory steering wheel
- One set of LED spotties need to be wired into high beam
- Front right bearing has minimal play, might just need tightening as it was replaced only about 5000kms ago

The rest depends on the person on the day, they might be super picky or relaxed.

$6000 ONO (1k off original price with all the extra spares and freebies if you are willing to organize and fix those few things yourself).

Located near Loganholme, QLD.
