- Like it says, Sierra ute
- not an LJ80 because that's not a ute
- not an LJ81 because that's not a Sierra
- not a Coily because they don't come it utes
- not a maruti unless it has been converted to a tray back ute
- it will fit any factory Sierra ute, 1 litre or 1300.

In a factory ute the fuel tank is not mounted across the chassis at the back like a SWB or LWB Sierra, it is mounted along the chassis behind the cab so the filler comes out of the long side not the short side.

You should really say tray back, a styleside LWB Sierra is much closer to the definition of a ute than a tray back.

Really, I would have though that by having seats in the rear and no bulk head between the front and rear it would make it less likely to fit the definition of a ute. What other utes have no bulkhead and rear seats.

Ok I just edited it and added tray back for all those that don't know what a ute is. However if you read what I initially wrote I did actually explain the location where this fuel tank is mounted and where the filler comes out which is unique amongst sierras to the tray utes.

Maybe I have it wrong, you guys might now define a swb a little ute and a lwb a longer ute and a tray back a little truck. I have heard a lot of you guys like to call your Suzuki's your little trucks.

A WT Sierra fuel tank fits perfectly on a 95 Maruti Trayback (i know because i had to replace mine due to a faulty fuel guage)
I'm not too sure what's so special about the one you're talking about or for what car it was exactly built for but good luck with the sale

Yep masterA that is correct, all lwb tray back Maruti's actually started life as a normal lwb maruti, they were imported to Australia and were then chopped down and a tray put on the back, a sticker was put on the edge if the bonnet and they sold them as a Stockman. They are not a factory tray back ute so their fuel tank is in the same place as a normal lwb Sierra.

Originally, the word "Ute" referred to a vehicle that has the tray built into the body with stylized sides. A trayback has neither of those. Whilst a lot of styleside LWBs might not have a bulkhead, they're still a lot closer to the original definition. One with a Maruti roof is even closer.

Of course the word ute has pretty much grown to mean any passenger vehicle with a substantial external load area, because of people incorrectly using the word. Because of this, you certainly aren't wrong to call a trayback a ute but calling it a trayback would get rid of any confusion. Of course, pictures of the tank would have helped too.

Fwiw I knew what you had from the start, and I imagine most others did. Certainly anyone with a Sierra trayback would know know what you're talking about and they're the target market.

MasterA, because Maruti traybacks start life as a styleside they have the SWB style tank. Only genuine Suzuki Sierra traybacks have the tank mounted between the diff and the cab. edit, beaten.

For the sake of completeness, LJ81 tanks are different to LJ80 tanks too. Though they still mount behind the diff and are very similar aside from the filler location. Both are different to Sierra tanks.
