Hi guys,

Looking at converting our 1.3L sierra to a G16B and wondering if there is much difference in terms of performance between a Baleno and Vitara G16B? Any difference in HP, torque etc.

I've read that the Vit conversion is a little easier but I've found a Baleno engine and we already have a bit of experience with engine conversions so hopefully should be able to handle it :?

Would greatly appreciate any advice as don't want to install a Baleno engine if the Vitara engine performs better.

Vit and Baleno are almost identical , power wise.

Inlet manifold and air intake/filterbox is the biggest difference.

If I were to do it again I'd prob use Baleno as I think the inlet is neater.

you can actually buy a hose that will connect a baleno throttle body directly to a sierra airbox . ive got a pic with it on a gti engine but the baleno is the same deal . it wasnt actually connected to the throttle body in this pic because i had a sr20 throttle body fitted which is much larger than the standard gti or baleno throttle body.

And sierra airboxes are pretty poorly designed and constructed. I don't think I'd spend that coin on a hose to connect to a worthless airboxes.

As to the baleno thing- I agree there's not much in the performance. The baleno is much neater, but only if you're able to do the water pipes neatly, which is a shittonne of work to get right.

Baleno is also coil pack, which makes me all warm and fuzzy.

I went with the Baleno engine.

As Steve mentioned If you spend the time on the hoses it will look great. I ran my hose back under the intake using some Camry hoses and a joiner. Some people will run it back over the exhaust but I think that looks terrible

The power gain is also great!

Still sorting a few bit out but it's driving me to work now :)

Hi Steve you say that the sierra airbox is no good which I agree with and I was wondering what type (make/model) of airbox woupd be better suited for the task
