I'm having some issues with my 2008 VVT Jimny. Every time I start the car on the 4H light starts flashing and after around 10 seconds or so the 4L light starts flashing. I've tried to switch back to 4H and then back into 2H and I've even moved the car a bit forwards and backwards in case it had something to do with a pressure build up like one of the local mechanics in my town suggested. I don't have to much of an idea as to how the vacuum operated 4WD engage works on this car and therefore I don't plan on doing any DIY just yet. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be or has something similar happened to anyone else?

It's going to be one of 3 things... There's a crack in one of the hoses (highest possibility and a very very easy DIY), munted 4x4 switch, or the vaccum solenoid is buggered.

I suggest grabbing some vaccum hose from super cheap and replacing all the hose pieces one by one

Fair enough, I also hear what seems like a clicking noise. I'm guessing it's a solenoid not working or something like that, I'm not to sure however. Also where about do the vacuum hoses run along and all?

The solenoids make a clicking noise.

As stated before the most common problem is a vacuum leak. Try tapping all the solenoids and the pull on all the hoses to see if any come loose or have cracks. Also tap the vacuum controller.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few hours to see if the controller resets itself.

Have you worked out that you are in 2WD and not 4WD?

The problem could be in the hubs themselves so one solution might be to change over to manual hubs. Use the Ben T kit and standard Sierra hubs. Block off both the vacuum lines and then see if the problem is solved.

More than likely the hose problem will be near the hub so like mike said, you can bridge the 2 vacuum hard lines on the drivers side near the chassis rail at the front tire.
