I would like to convert my lwb sierra to coil front and like the simplicity of radius arms like gwagensteve has done to piggles but thought I would ask the people about some other options and/or ideas

basically I want to use radius arms the rover items look good flex well and I have no issues with them but I would like to entertain the idea of custom jobbies or another repurposed idea and just what I may or may not gain from them and maybe some information on what does work well (if I did get custom items made) i.e. longer length, bush to arm angles, bush separation at the diff end??? im all ears and curious to hear what everyone's ideas are

As important as the design of the arm is how they are mounted. Along with the above, the closer together they are the better. Triangulating them at the chassis end also helps to reduce roll stiffness inherent in radius arms.

I chose rover arms because I like the way they travel, the pin at the chassis end, and they are well supported by the aftermarket. Pajero rear arms seem to flex well and are a long and easy to work with, but aren't as well supported by the aftermarket.

I see no reason to fabricate your own. Lots of hassle when there are tonnes of options in a wrecking yard.

Wanting to do the same thing . I am not after massive flex so do not see the need for a 3 or 4 link in my situation , so will follow this for advice . Can anyone post up lengths of the arms that they know of , I have been trying to find the length of Jimny arms but no luck . I would like to puch the diff forward a bit to help clear the sump also so seeming what length would work the best and then find an arm from there .

Cheers
Chris

Jimny arms are pretty bendy - You'd want to ensure your car is pretty light and the arms stay very flat if you want to use them. front Jimny arms don't seem to flex very well, but rear arms appear to offer excellent flex, I suspect due to the bush alignment at the diff end.

Ok kool just some of the info I wanted so inboard/triangulate the arms and as long as possible. I was going to do these but was not certain of the outcome or the reasoning behind it.

I might look into pajero rears and challenger items only because if possible I would prefer a bush in the arm over a pin end for no certain reason I simply prefer a axial bush over a longitudinal bush.

Keeping the arms 'flat' due to anti squat reasons?

Obviously custom arms pushes the price up which I would prefer to avoid if possible and their is alot to choose from (alot!) but I would rather not settle for something that will do over something that fits or suits and will improve ride quality as my aim is to use the car on short and medium length trips (upto says 2-3000ks+ round trips over a week or two) so the better the ride the more enjoyable the trip

^ by the sounda of it you will want another car. If you do a 100% perfect coil conversion in just the front end you will still have a noisy, dusty, Sierra. Not that thats a bad thing, its just not made for long ass trips.

Is comfort your entire reason for going coils?
