Anyone used astra shocks in a vitara?

Also GV and vitara shocks are the same part number I have heard, but maybe the v6 GV is different? Does anyone have the part numbers?

Why not use vitara shocks in a vitara?

If you are chasing cheap, long shocks and don't care about all the disadvantages of not having the right shock for the job, why not use the commodore shocks that are well tried?

I don't know whose part number you are after? Suzuki? An aftermarket part number? It seems some aftermarket suspension peddlers use the same shock for both cars. It's the same size and bolts in. Whether the valving works is a completely different question.

Have a look on the UK forums, Astra shocks are what everybody is using. No Commodores there.

Maybe they use Lada shocks in Russia too, but that doesn't make them the right wrong shock to use here.

There are probably more Vitara's in the UK running Astra shocks than there are Vitaras over here. The OP lives in UAE, where I doubt Commodore shocks are available.
I run Commodore shocks in a LWB Vitara with extended bump stops, at full flex the tailshaft rubs on the chassis cross member so they are far from perfect.

I would run GV v6 shocks in the front as the engine I have is a little heavier. I will run vitara in the rear. Commodore shocks are just for the rear right?

Looking for oem part number of vitara shocks and GV shocks.

Vits and gv's don't have shocks in the front, they have struts. I believe aftermarket GV and Vitara struts are the same.

Rear oem shocks will have different part numbers as they will be valved according to the spring rate. This seems to be something the aftermarket doesn't generally do, so they often list the same part for both cars.

Ok struts then. Still a shock inside the strut, so it's still a shock to me.

Ok I will clarify. I do not really want aftermarket.I can get oem pretty easily and cheaply. I am running slightly thicker springs in the front for the heavier engine (I think they are GV, but I just pulled out a pile at the local wreckers so cant be sure). I am not really after longer droop, my cv's don't need it. I just want something that will match the spring well and take a little more weight. I am thinking GV struts might work well, but would like the oem part number. yes, I have noticed a lot of aftermarket brands do list them as the same. I would just like the oem part number for both so I can compare.
