Hey guys.

Simple one. Show us your roof baskets. I'm interested in knowing (and seeing) what size, brand etc roof basket your running on the Zook and what it cost.

I am the new owner of a jimny and looking at procuring one and trying to decide what size would be best suited..

are you planning on fitting a roof basket to your sierra soft top?


x2 on the rola vortex baskets for tintops... minus the lasagna stack of roof rails & cross bars used to fit it to henno's.

Agreed. I am yet to come up with an elegant solution (if only it fit between the rails). I can see myself Frankensteining a set of rail clamp feet thingers to attach directly to the tray.

must play havoc with your aero package, you need moar spoilers. :lol:

i know mine when fitted as pictured knocked nearly 10kph off my top speed & was very noticeable at 100kph when doing back to back testing.

I did 110kph+ for an hour yesterday and I saw no noticeable affect on fuel consumption, however I did notice it being wind effected at 100kph+ and expected a dint in my fuel usage, but it never seemed to eventuate... so I put that down to placebo because I was looking for the affects.

I am torn between removing the rails and fabbing up a permanent solution or just taking the basket on and off between big trips, mainly because with those fully sick aero bar spoilers, I can actually get both kayaks on the roof. Not possible on top of the rola thinger obviously, due to the loss of 6-8 inches of width.

Haven't noticed a difference in fuel consumption with the basket on my Cruiser but definitely noticed it in my Vit. It is noisey above 90kmh

Fuel economy wise I haven't been able to record a noticeable difference. I also have the Vortex, which originally was clamped to Rola cross bars but now mine just fits directly to my roof rails via four welded on clamps.

Just to clarify this isn't for a Sierra Soft Top..it's for a Jimny tin top. I am currently living in Canada and have a jimny arriving next week from Japan.

I am currently looking at roof rack and basket options available (remembering that there is nothing available for the jimny in North America). I am going to head Into a rola dealer this weekend and see if they can get the low profile sports rack listed on the Aus rola website in locally.

I hoping to get the RBXL low profile sports cross bars to try and prevent a 'lasagne' roof stack.

If they can't get the racks for a reasonable price, I may look at going down the road of removing the factory rails all together and making some custom mounts to bolt the basket directly to the roof.

I have one of these, with the optional 24" extension that I switch between my Grand Vitara & my Pajero iO - it's probably too long for a Jimny, but the base basket might suit you.
