I imagine some of the turbo Ford sixes produce great amounts of heat.

I also imagine their cooling system pretty much handles it.

Have you tried reverting to well maintained everyhting where it should be stock condition?

I've never overheated once and I have a crappy marginally cooled sierra.

I dont really want the stock clutch setup yeah it lasted 10 years, but i want to try electric and see if there is any difference in towing. The old clutch fan was loud and i believed sucked huge amounts of power esp when towing. It just aint needed on the high way and i dont think it ever really cut out as it should. It could of been because of the smaller radiator but who knows. Electric fans might not be as reliable or last as long but there easy to replace and easily available.

To replace the fan and hub i was up for around 300 and had to order it in, wait a few days. Can pick up electric fans from pretty much everwhere even small country towns in the middle of no where. Having that extra space also makses it stacks easier to replace belts if they ever decided to go. Pain in ass with the cluch fan in the road, esp with how tight the alternator one is even with the alternator in as much as it can go.

The alternator in a XL is a 105amper, i have a 100amp/h marine batt so the electrics are good for it.

Have you tried stock fan in good condition, stock rad in good condition and stock shroud in good condition?

Why over complicate?

Because it only lasted 10yrs, weren't you listening.

4500cfm = ~29km/h, so unless you are towing less than 29km/h, then it doesn't matter what fan you have on it, there is more air from the car moving than your pissy little electric fan.

Becoz stage 14 clutches need supporting mods such as sub standard cooling systems & blue valve covers.

From reading this thread, I thought he was initially running a non standard radiator with no shroud.

So I asked if he has tested and "evaluated" the performance of a complete stock setup in good condition, because 99% chance it will work.

Anyway, that was my sincere non trolling question and suggestion.

I'll leave ya's to it

Edit: Spelling. The auto correct on my macbook has made my fingers lazy. I now make many errors typing on the work PC :thefinger:

Okay, I investigated the Falcon twin fan setup (from all models EF plus ) and the problem is they're made to suit a passenger car..... that means a radiator that is not very tall but very wide. The fans are far too wide for an XL-7 radiator (way too wide and you can't exactly cut them down) and nowhere near tall enough. Same for Commondoor fans. But if you're up for a "mission impossible" type challenge then they are cheapish to buy. Don't forget about radiator to engine pulley clearance too.

PS: .... If you have got the incorrect radiator that would be the first point of call ..... They're easy enough to buy online or you can go to one of the mega expensive Suzuki wreckers in Adelaide to get an OEM used.

Nobprobs Marko lots of reasons to get rid of old fan main reason is needed my car.

Adl is pathetic with stocking parts.

The core is 455 high. I have to measure from bracket to bracket as that's what I was going to screw it too. Between them is 610 there about a inch wide each. Ford fan is 750 wide? I looked at a au fan.

Won't be hard for me to adapt any differences but have to measure things properly. Time Is my problem at the moment

Why don't the rest of us Suzuki owners in SA have the same dramas with zook parts... I reckon the issue is you.

4wd Products... I suggest you google it.

Everything I get is from him.

Saying adl doesn't stock anything every time I call it's same parts have to 've ordered. Greg's parts always came next day.

Honestly, go for the SPAL twin 11" fan- if you're going to change it. It is literally almost perfect for width and only slightly too short in height (60mm rings a bell?)

Combine that with the proper radiator and you won't have any problems. My XL-7 is living proof that system works well. ;)

The only time I've had any drama was when the battery dropped a cell. It was a 42 degree day and the alternator couldn't keep up (at low revs) with the A/C , thermofans running flat out etc. Remarkably the the engine was running perfectly but everything else electrical was going haywire and the engine getting hot at idle speeds. A new battery fixed that.

Ill keep the SPALS in mind can get them here for $238 which isnt to bad. The Ford AU fan is perfect height will cover full core height with a few mm overlap but is 4 inch's too wide, will overlapt the brackets by around a inch each side. Easy to solve the difference with a bit of aloy 90degree corner stuff. But apparently they also use around 40amp, around 20 for the copies. Prob wont be a issue if there on only briefly and they are speed controllable eg apparently 4 stages on the ford setup. Spal looks like the easy, reliable option, Ford not hard but prob overkill, but i doo have a race car

It went well today fans did not turn on for around 15min driving briskly then turned on when stuck at a traffic light start of torrens road and stayed on for the next 40min into the city. 11k's in 40min not even that much trafic.... GO ADELAIDE! think someone needs to resync the lights lol.

The Temp stayed at around 88 and breifly up to 91 at times. Got to work fans wouldnt turn of waiting a minute. Opened bonnet pulled wire on the 82 thermoswitch they turned off switch clicked imediatly put wire back on they stayed off. Think i have a sticky switch.
Last night for a brief drive they turned on while ideling, turned off when moving, when turned off engine they ran for prob 5seconds and turnned off.

So if i could get say a 90 Degree switch and mount it on the thermostat housing which seems to be idel as same temp as ECU sensor. It should keep the engine temp in the low to mid 90's. The Thermostat opens fully at 95 so to avoid the water pump working hard i want the fans on when the coolant is flowing at its max. See if Audi's study on effieciancy of engines running at 95 works with the H.

That's an excellent price. You've obviously got some connections and that's not RRP?

I ordered mine from the USA, it wasn't cheap but was the best fit and came with the shroud built in. I used a Davies Craig (originally) on my last vehicle (which was a total flop), then a Daewoo Nubira fan (better, with built in shroud, but still not quite there on the hottest days.) Hence why I didn't skimp this time around.

Those Chinese Falcon fans probably wouldn't be worth wasting your time/ money on (even if they did fit.) Genuine Ford would be the only way to go - if you choose that path.

Here's one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SPAL-30102052-D ... 1375195344 US$286 delivered. (Would probably work out to AUS$340 odd after you get shafted on the exchange rate?)

This one too http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-SPAL-DUAL-1 ... 1144534981

I could get from USA 276+36 delivery.

The people i got my Derale fan controler from do there fans too. Bit more pricy than SPAL eg dual 11" $486 there single fans start at $136 for ones like i have to $386 for a high flow performance fan. The dual setup has a 4000cfm flow, motors draw 24.8 amp each

This would almost be perfect

That looks like a knock off copy of the SPAL dual 11", similar in design and appearance? The specs are probably questionable (and the quality- there's no brand even mentioned).
