Hey guys. I took my jimny to service as for a coupe of weeks im having a bad noise coming from the rear wheel drivers side. Suspecting the wheel bearings fail plus i got oil coming out of it

Took it to the shop in fact yes, needs new wheel beari gs, seals, brakes, etc. all good
But just got a call. They are saying that now after they took all appart. The driver side of the axle was bent.
????
Hence why the wheel bearing went off ect ect.

I have t 4wd in aaaages. The last time i put low gear was like 2 months ago to cruise in fraser for a day. Nothing hectic. The guy says it could have been a gutter or wheeling. But i have t really hit any holes or gutter that i remember.

Didnt tought the rear axle could bent that eassy???? Or is he making that up??

Or the rear wheel bearings shit themselfs first and that make the axle to be d latter??

Are you sure they don't mean the housing is bent???

If an axle is "bent" usually it means the splines are twisted, not the axle itself (along the length).

Bent = twisted?? News to me....

The mechanics reference to hitting a gutter would imply the axle is "bent" re:not straight thus flogging out a wheel bearing/seal and having wheel wobble.

Hitting a gutter front on (climbing it) would stress and twist the splines though... and some people describe things differently. Its pretty uncommon to bend an axle on a suzuki and far more likely to bend a housing or twist an axle...

Yeahi quite dnt understand it either. Specially si ce i havent proper 4wd in years.

Well aparently the part bent is on the hub where the beari g seals are. And it looks like it has been like that for quite a while. Would take a pic this afto when i go to pick it up

Well i had a look. Its nothing u could actually see see. Even less in a pic so didnt took one.

The axle itself is not "bent". The problem was i. The hub par of it. When spin on the housng they could tell it was off. Either bent or worn down un-even. Maki g the wheel bearing go off and prob making it all even worse. So who knows from how long got that issue.

So there ya go. I manage to had to replace an axle without even get the car dirty lol.


on another note, the car drives soooooooo smoothly right now didn't even remember when was the last time it drove like that lol

I bent and twised my axle - apparently thats hard to do without breaking it the whole brake drum was off centre because of it. could actually feel the brake pulsing under foot occasionally.
