I picked up a 2nd hand windscreen a few years ago, not sure whether it was off a WT or NT, when I fitted it the wipers never worked they would move a small distance then stop which I put down to the motor or an earth problem. I finally got around to looking at it the other day and after putting a different motor on I noticed that even though the wipers moved the full distance manually by hand when the motor is attached the arm it attaches to doesnt travel far enough and doesnt line up with the full travel of the motors arm. When the arm on the motor is pointing towards the passenger side of the car the arm that is attached to the wipers themselves is an inch or two short if that makes sense.

Is there a difference in the length of the arm that attaches to the wipers themselves between WT to NT or in the position of the motor. The motor I got was out of a WT, I'm not sure what the windscreen was out of and I cant remember whether or not I fitted the wipers off my old screen or they came with the new screen.

Could be from a 1.0 with no intermittent wipers? I had to swap a couple of pins around in the plug to get my vitara loom to work with the 1.0 sierra wiper motor - could be the same problem with a 1.0/1.3 swap?

If I plug the motor in on it's own and earth it to the body it spins with wiper switch like it should and with no motor attached I get full movement from the wiper blades. It just looks like the motor needs to be mounted an inch or two closer to the drivers side.

So the story goes,
I had just replace the windscreen surround ( thanks Stekky), As it must from a slightly diff model the wiper arms are diff lengths and jammed the motor and blew the fuse. I also put toooo long bolts in the top 2 wiper motor mounts which also jammed the actuator arm. So now with the correct bolt length , the correct arms for said windscreen and a new fuse all is good.

I found this when I chopped a hard top WT roof off and fitted a soft top 410 (NT) windscreen. The windscreen fitted perfectly but the internal connector wiper arms are shorter in the NT. Steve.

So the N'T internals were too short to line up with your WT motor ?

it does? i just replaced the linkage in mine and pretty sure i used WT links... looking at the parts listing on suzistore they show that NT just uses a "bolt on the wiper arm", whereas WT uses a tapered spline on the wiper arm, which is what mine definitely uses. Ebay listings seem to agree with that.

I could be wrong, but these listings seem to suggest WT maruti is same WT sierra, as does the fact WT links fitted my maruti, but i cant guarantee its the original windscreen surround on mine.

1.0 and most NT's use a different wiper motor crank length and different linkages to WT.
Some cars also have wiper pivots at different spacings in the screen frame.
As mentioned above there are different styles of attaching the wipers as well.

I have purchased wt arms before from suzistore and had them not fit but like u say on a 20+ yo car used offroad its a commonly replaced part coupled with the fact marutis seem more prone to cracking around the wipers than jap sierras
