Okay so first this whould be cheapish but not somethin i would dor for a long time.... too much hassle and expense gett my car drivable still.

First how i got to this idea:
Any new or aux tank needs adr approval and engineering signoff. That rules out a lot of tanks u could buy. I could get a tank from that company but sp3nding 1200 for a 65 liter tank and still having space unused would annoy me too much.
I hav a 50mm body lift.

My idea: find a tank about 1m wid3 and squarish from a reasonably new car. Cut the floor and make a new floor over the tank. Put the tank over the chassis and std tank. With the full space btween wheel arches there is a lot of volume available and would not lose much rear storage.

I found a few tanks that would fill the space pretty well at 60 to 70 litres.

Or just carry around 3 jerry cans in the back? Take up far less room and would be a hell of a lot cheaper and easier

With a dent in the tank i already carry a jerry can around and dont enjoy the smell of fuel very much?

In any case while it would be more than 20 per can it would not be very expensive.

When I had ordered a Long Ranger tank for my Coily, they didn't charge any extra to build it bigger to take advantage of the 2" body lift.

You need to find a better jerry can. I use Scepter ones and as the fuel spout is stored inside the can and the caps seal even when upside down fuel odour is not a problem.

We have carried 2 cans whilst crossing the country in a SWB Vit and 3 cans in the LWB Vit. On a daily basis 1 jerry can lives in each vehicle.

They look pretty good. Mine are plastic repco. I wanted a more squat can but never found those.

Did not smell of fuel until fairly r3cently but now do even though car sits in an underground carpark all the time (it needs a new tail shaft badly and rear diff. Will get it tow3d bak home on a mates trailer next weekend i hope)

Actually what i hav is that same brand.

I dont think long range do vit tanks only the other company and hearing people not get calls returned does not give me high hopes of ordering custom...

Anyway th3 aux tank is just an idea for now. I would lose about 200mm with a small amount of raised floor for about 100l fuel store with that.

Try http://www.outbackaccessories.com I don't know if they have a tank for your car but I have one of theirs in my family car and found them great to deal with and the tank is a good bit of gear

If u want a squat can, check with bursons if there's one near you. I work at one of the wa stores and we have squat 20l jerry cans here

Baleno tanks are super cheap, flat and rectangular
Although swb is challanging

Well suddenly less important after the swb blew up and i replaced it with a late model lwb in awesome unmolested condition.

May come bak to this but at least the lwb has a sensible size tank in the first place....
