Hi just purchased my 1st Zook yesterday a 1997 Sierra soft top SJ80 with 167 000 km on the clock. Spend most of it's past life being towed behind a RV. So far so good, only thing I noticed this morning is that there is a on and off squeaking noise coming from somewhere underneath which amplifies as you go over speed bumps etc. It comes and goes and not affecting the drive, just something that is annoying once you pick up on it.
Had a look underneath and cannot see any leaks anywhere, in fact all the joints and bushings looks pretty dry and dusty, as the car have been parked up for a while on a farm over here in WA. So my question is what normally need's grease\lube as far as the chassis and drivetrain goes, and what products can you recommend ?
Given that its occuring when the suspension is being used, its most probably dry/worn out bushes. Pull a few out and have a look at the condition of them, if they are really dry and cracked that may be the problem.
As far as I'm aware there isnt to much that needs greasing or lubing, so long as all the bearings and bushes were packed/lubed correctly the last time they were replaced, you should be good.
