Anything is possible if you have the fabrication skills.

I don't believe many people go the V8 route on here as most of us find the 1.6 EFI with gearing to be plenty.

If you look through the build threads, there are a few people that have put a V8 in Comp buggy's and such. My best suggestion would be to look through and see what they've had to do so you know what your up for.

What side is the front tailshaft on the gearbox? You may have issues with length trying to squash all that in.

Personally I think the 1UZ is better suited to a bigger vehicle.... Hilux, 80 series, GQ Patrol, etc.

Definitely. I like the 1UZ, but unless I was building a silly zook-bodied buggy I wouldn't throw one near a suzuki.

Just put an EFI engine in the vitara and call it done.

Vitara front shaft is drivers side so already you have an issue with the Triton box. If you were to swap Triton/Pajero diffs into it you'd be up for some serious fabrication. Your rear tailshaft would be ridiculously short due to length of engine/gearbox combo and getting it engineered for road use would be a nightmare. You're better off finding an EFi Vitara motor and swapping that in, or stuffing the 1UZ into a Hilux, Pajero or similar.

Ok cool so basically that's that hahah I didn't want to pull car to pieces if it's a waste so the efi is a better solution what is one worth and what cars were they in is the 1agze any good supercharged? As a option as well

4AGE motors are getting hard to find now and you'll have to adapt the engine to the gearbox. Still a viable option but the Suzuki EFi engine is a much easier swap and gives a decent power upgrade. LWB Vitaras all ran them and usually go for $800-1,500.

The most common EFi Suzuki engine is the G16B

Converting a Vitara to 4AGZE is difficult if you wish to retain 4WD as the vitara uses a married transfer/gearbox arrangement. Therefore, you really need to adapt the 4A motor to the Vitara gearbox, not something there is currently an adapter for.

Other option would be to swap the 4AGZE to a Hilux manual and use a hilux transfer. I believe this is quite possible but all up it's a pretty complex way to fox a G16A with a carby problem.

Vitara with 1UZ

Image

looks like a hack job though. Non registered desert car

Ok if you are dead set on putting a v8 into a vit, the 1uz is the best choice. The 1uz is a short but very wide engine, which suits the vit bay better than an ls1 or the bigger bore v8's. The other good thing is that some vit's used an AW4 which will bolt up to a 1uz with some bellhousing, tc converter and input shaft mixing and matching. Although the one in the pic was manual with an adapter plate made.

It is possible, but a rather full on job and an even bigger job if you want it to look good completed and work flawlessly.

Much much easier just to get your carb woking well.

Really? An unfinished conversion, with no evidence it ran or runs, with a radiator sitting outside the car, is cool? OK. I guess everyone's idea of cool is different. Regardless, the location and size of the radiator is by far the easy part of this conversion. The issue will be retaining 4WD, and ensuring reliability of the driveline. they're going to be major headaches.

There are quite a few V8 vitaras around, including with LS motors, but few retain 4WD or do it without converting to a solid front axle to give the motor some room and the driveline some strength.

Retaining 4x4 is easier with the aw4. The rad could easily fix, but the owner wanted all lexus gear including the radiator that wouldn't fit inside, after all it is just a hack job. An ls1 is a lot longer and a harder conversion and rarely retains 4x4. the 1uz is the perfect conversion V8 (if you feel you need a v8) for a vitara as you can use the AW4 and keep the stock suzuki aw4 with some mixing and macting of suzuki and toyota parts and 4x4 and driveline. Besides engine mounts its possibile to do with all oem parts and no adapter.

The hack job pictured is just a dune basher, it does run the stock suzuki manual 4x4 with an adaptor.

swift gti is a downgrade in displacement
4agze could be good
4g63t is too heavy imo, there are better turbo 4cyls to choose from.

wouldn't you be better off leaving the body on so you can locate the motor to suit the body?
