Hey guys without being able to put an recovery hitch in my towbar what can I use to recover mates and be saved myself lol cheers

If you have a receiver hitch just poke the strap into the receiver and use the pin. Safest option.

If you don't have a receiver you can take the towball out and put a shackle through tongue.

I've seen people use the shackle though the tongue is that pritty save is it if so I'll do that

Safer to use the pin.

Shackles turn into good projectiles. Only use them when winching.

Lots of Vitara towbars only have tongues though - no receiver.

You can wrap the strap around the bar itself, then loop it through, just make sure it's in the middle. I prefer this over using a shackle personally.

OTHERWISE... get a properly attached recovery hook installed. This will involve welding additional gussets and plates to the chassis, but is by far the safest if done properly.

So far as being recovered, don't use the factory tie down at the front for anything other than flat towing. Mine took a whole bunch of snatches and what not but there's also instances of them breaking a weld or ripping the tube they're welded to. Again, you're best to have a proper recovery point fitted.

Dont use a vit rear tie down point either.

I saw one tear open like a can of tuna.
A slightly stuck swb vit, no momentum, just a taught line and a clutch dump ripped it open.
