Hi guys,
i just bought a 1983 sierra wagon and im looking to get skinnier tires on it. The car came with 31x10.50r15 mud tires and im really not liking the way they handle and how big and bulky they are. Im not too sure but i think the car has had a 1 or 2 inch lift done to it in the past. i was wondering if anyone could help me out with skinnier tire sizes. I have found a website with photos of the tires i want but im unsure of what size they are and if i would have to get my wheels changed as well. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks.

the tan Sierra in this link is the tire size i was looking at.

These sizes are very uncommon in Australia. They're typically a 195 75 16 or thereabouts. These sizes are popular in Japan because they use the factory 16x4.5 rims on factory 660cc "Kei" Sierras.

Mostly you're going to be around 225 70 16 here as the smallest radial 16" size. You might find a 215 70

There are 215 80's and the old 205R16 sizes (as used on old hiluxes and range rovers) but these are relatively tall.

You'll need to run these on GV rims or aftermarket 16x6" rims.

I too believe 10.5 is too wide for a sierra, these 16" tyres have their own drawbacks- they're typically heavy and stiff with high load ratings.

If you were to go to a 16x6 inch rim, you could go with 205r16s ... ,about 29inch tall very common tyre, with a variety of treads.
Then there are 225/75 R16, at about 29.5"
