As the title states,
Chasing a good working condition auto from a VVT Jimny, I'm located in Hobart but will look anywhere in Aus.
Cheers, Simon 0439791195.

Countrywide Suzuki on the Gold Coast had 1 or 2 low k ones a couple of weeks ago $2000, and there was another brisbane wrecker that had one, they wanted $1900. Unfortunately that's the going rate everywhere. Some wreckers tried to tell me there was none in Australia, only in NZ; they are out there just hard to find and the wreckers know this and charge accordingly.
I bought a 19000Klm written off jimny from the salvage auctions just for the auto, cost me over $2000 with fees, as obviously the specialist wreckers were bidding against me. Still worth it given the Klm's I guess

Or you can try getting your local wreckers to chase one up for you. A mate at work used to do up old commodores and was friendly with the Holden wreckers. I got him to ask if they could get a a Jimny auto transfer case for me. They quoted me $500 delivered from the Gold Coast to Sydney... But as I didn't need the high range reduction, I just fitted new low range gears into my existing case.

Are you on Facebook? There is a fella on the Australian jimny owners page that wrecks a lot of autos and seems to be reasonable with prices.

Why are auto boxes so expensive for these?

Because the new parts to fix them plus the labour would cost $5000 or something. They stuff up regularly and are rarer so the wreckers get chased for them and know all this so market has set the rate at around $2000 the wreckers that buy Jimny wrecks regularly at salvage auctions all know this. When I saw this auto wreck come up at salvage auction I guessed I would have to go to at least $1800 to get it, and I ended up getting it for $1900 + all the fees. Bidding against wreckers who were willing to pay that as the auto would pay for the wreck, then whatever else they sell is profit.
