I had a airlocker and then a spool in my coily rear diff. Never broke diff parts or axles. Maybe it was hard cheese?

I think everyone is refering to the front, the rear same as sierra.

Front is kind of irrelavant, as there is no readily available front locker solution for a coily.

The new RD208 is not too bad, i had lots of dramas with the old RD88, pretty well whenever you loaded it up axles would snap (not the lockers fault i have a fat pig of a car and a heavy right foot) and locker would be damaged! i swapped to the 208 because no parts were about for the 88 anymore, but if i loose another air locker its going to be spools all the way! i run an auto in the front with chromos and its never been touched! ARB air locker in the rear is always a drama!

One thing I have noticed with the new style it stays locked for quite a while after turning it off, the old style was not near as bad! If it was in the front it would piss me! also the copper air line runs over the top of the ring gear and is quite close.

Also a coily or jimny front is more like a wheel of swiss cheese thats been left in a car in the hot sun for a few days. if you want to lock the front of a cheese diff, get the CIG out, it will last about the same time as the diff anyway.

Try a different viscosity oil, mine would disengage as soon as i got off the gas/pushed the clutch in

What ?!? All the ARB videos say this should never happen, the axle is supposed to snap without damaging the locker !!! That is the one reason to buy a genuine ARB locker and not a Chinasoong

what oil did ya use rocky??

It depends on the climate, its 30+ mostly in wa so the oil i use is not necessarily the same oil you would run in some of the cooler states.
That being said i dont really think thats you issue, sounds like the diff may have been setup incorrectly. I ran my rd88 for 8 years wheeling rock on 32"s pretty much every weekend with zero issues. Maybe too much backlash or not enough

guess ill just have to try a few till i find a good one... yeah iv never heard of having that much trouble with an arb locker.
