Looks like maybe a camera to the left of the top brake light
Could be right, sure looks like it.
Seems a bit strange to me to have a reversing camera on the Jim as I've always found visibility to be pretty good and the rear window on this version looks comparable.
I'm a bit bummed not to see anything come out of the Tokyo motor show except for the horrid looking e-survivor.

Looking at all the pics online it looks like they have tiny tires still. I wish they would go a 215/85r16 or even better 235/85r16 like u could get in brazil.
Obviously based on their appeal as a small city car, small power plant and subsequent drivetrain changes required, plus economy and emission losses, big tyres from factory aren’t ever coming.
I am hopeful though at the very least, that upgrading to a larger tire won’t require a lot of body massaging.
They're adopting the LC79 dash vents in the corners, but in what looks like almost a bid to avoid copying the cruiser they've got different vents in the centre??
Ah, so that finally explains the "Jimny Sierra" thing - the Jimny Sierra is the widetrack model. Interesting, because the term Sierra wasn't ever used for JDM Jimnys AFAIK.
As predicted, the chassis looks near-as-dammit identical to the existing Jimny, which I guess is good and bad.

The chassis does look very similar to the current Jimny with a couple of changes (I'm comparing to non-VVT Jim, unsure about newer chassis).
Not sure about a couple of details as they're obscured in the picture but here's a better look. Also plenty of other information about the drivetrain.
Dash should have a nice 7-8" display and I'd imagine the dash is going to end up looking similar to the current Ignis albeit with a different dash cluster (see below; ~40 seconds in to the vid).
We should know a lot more on July 5th.
Mentioned tyre sizes for those who are interested are 175 / 80 r16 for the Jimny (NT) and 195 / 90 r15 for the Jimny Sierra (WT).
I've also seen mention of a 5 door LWB variant which would be interesting. Unsure if it would reach the Australian market or if it would be targeting India.

Well, maybe not as similar as I thought. Here's a nice RHD WT model. Still not a fan of that front bumper but overall I think it's a huge visual improvement on the current Jim.
Just need confirmation of exterior roof mounting options before I'd get excited. Never enough room in the Jim, although the folding passenger seat execution looks great in this model.
This really looks like best case scenario. More utilitarian, more power. Suzuki have actually listened to us? I'm not seeing a negative over the current Jimny anyway, except probably price.
K15b is 104hp!
I'm a bit disappointed to see it's still a 4 speed auto, I know the chances of them developing a new gearbox for it was super slim but they could have at least given us a tiptronic or paddle shift. Hopefully the bigger motor will help fill in the ratio gaps. I probably would have bought one the day they came out if it was a 6 speed.
195/80r15 is a handy 1" boost in tyre diameter and means a 235/75r15 will be legal. We'll see what size we end up with in Australia though. It certainly looks like the guards are bigger and will take a bigger tyre easier.
Boneheimer the rain gutters will make it easy to fit all manner of roof racks, though personally I'd probably go track mount.
Best of all it looks like they've fixed the load area. Probably my biggest gripe about the current Jimny is the awkward shape and wasted space in the load area.

I didn’t see that it would get the K15b?
Have a look above at the yellow-ish Jim shell hovering over the chassis. K15B listed on point #6.
I'd be curious as to whether this would translate across to the Australian market and the WT (Jimny Sierra) as the image and specs are for the JDM NT (Jimny).
I thought it would be getting the 1L boosterjet from memory; but again I think this will vary based on the model XL, XG, XC. Based on the way the swift is sold (again, from memory) the higher end models come with the boosterjet.
I'm sure someone who knows more can correct me if this is wrong.

Just to add to my potato comment above, here is some high quality google translated information about the Jimny Sierra
Quote:
【New type "Jimny · Sierra"】 The power train of this individual is a 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with a displacement of 1.5 L, and the transmission is a 5-speed MT / 4-speed AT lineup as well as "Jimny" transmission. Regarding fuel consumption here as well, the 5-speed MT specification is 15.0 km / L and the 4-speed AT specification is 13.6 km / L from the new fuel efficiency standard WLTP.
