So Perth had nonstop rain yesterday and the car was being driven most of the day - 04 GV 2.5 v6 4dr. Last night I noticed water on the passenger side. It was soaked close to the door. I looked upwards and did not find any water marks or leaks on the roof or along the door.

This morning I checked the rear and found half the floor on the rear left passenger side soaked.

Got home from work and pulled carpet up and found this black rubber being a potential cause. Are these known to leak? It looks a bit rusty too. Mind you this car is filthy so orangey brown doesn’t mean rust always. I am thinking water came
In here and slid to the rear.

Take a look at the photos. I had a look underneath and this is likely the only spot into the cabin.

It's a possibility - BUT - only if you were driving in deep enough water...

In case you haven't realized it, water flows "down hill" - from high to low - it will also "find it's own level" so if you place a container (in this case your car) in water, and there is a hole in the bottom of the container that is below the level of the water, water will enter until such time as the level inside is the same as that outside.

It's much more likely that the cowl drains are clogged and rain is entering the cowl vents and then coming in through the HVAC fresh air intake behind the glove box.

When I read it back, I can see that is obvious.

I cleared out (some stones) of the little drain hole and flushed some gunk out. I filled up the hole for a min and no water in the cabin now. Will see how I go in the next rainy day.
