Presuming it’s cranking over fine but not starting, off the top of my head

Old fuel
No fuel
Fuel filter
Fuel pump
Fuel pickup or lines blocked
Carby problem
Air leak (vac lines if there is any, manifold, carby or gasket)

Bad earth on motor = weak spark
Timing out
Spark plugs dirty, old or gap wrong
Spark plug leads or coil HT lead
Dizzy cap
Dizzy rotor
Ignition coil
Ignition fuse

Eliminate bit by bit!! For example does it run on start ya bastard but not without? MIGHT indicate the problem is fuel.

All of these could cause problems, there’s probably more to the list and it’s not necessarily in order. Google ‘car won’t start troubleshooting guide’ and work your way though the list. It’s a doable job but a systematic approach helps a bunch and it helps to know how to interpret what you find. Report back your findings :)
