Hey fellas, I just bought a wide track sierra and can't get the thing to move. I started it and put it into first and the driveshaft between the gearbox and transfer case doesn't spin. The owner said the clutch was stuffed but didn't seem too sure. The clutch pedal feels fine so I doubt any fingers are snapped of the pressure plate.

Could it be possibly be the cable length or something else? I just want to be able to drive the thing in and out the garage to work on haha, are there any tricks to getting it moving even if the disk is stuffed? Cheers

How does the gear shift feel? Sloppy or do you get good feel of the gears engaging? Might just be as simple as the shift bush being flogged out, it happens frequently.

If your not sure under the shifters rubber boot there’s 3 10mm bolts and the gear stick will pull out. Have a look as see what’s in there

Cheers mate the shfters pretty sloppy but I can definitely feel it shifting into gear. I'll take a look tomorrow but if I can feel it going into gear it wouldn't be the shift bush?

Hard to say for sure without having a look myself. The bush is easy to look at still still worth ruling out.

I can’t think of anything else that’s likely off the top of my head, if the clutch feels fine and you’re absolutely sure the drive shaft post-gearbox isn’t turning then perhaps it’s time to start removing the gearbox to assess it properly.

Does the vehicle make any attempt to move or is there absolutely nothing?

Will it select any other gears? Try reverse

Oh!!! And if you need to move it and can leave it in gear you can move the selector rods manually with a large flat head screwdriver once your gearstick is out. As you look down at it, move the very right have rod backwards (towards the rear of the car).

Have you ascertained that the clutch lever is operating correctly?. Lay under the car and get someone to depress the clutch.

Well it's not the shiftier plate it shifts into the gears fine same with transfer case. I just took a peek at the clutch lever and it's not correct (an inch more towards the firewall from where it should be). But the cable was adjusted by the previous owner to compensate. Still the cable was 1mm or so too tight applying slight tension. Car still won't move/catch gear. Previous owner said he replaced it with a cheap clutch off ebay and it exploded.. but the car runs fine no sign or sounds of debris in the bellhousing. Just doesn't move when you bring the clutch pedal up to take off!

If the cable was badly adjusted and keeping pressure, however slight, on the clutch there’s a good chance it’s was overheating the clutch and caused it to fail. Time to take the gearbox or motor out and see what’s going on inside
