What happens? The same amount of water pours out of the gap between the housing and the shaft, washing out the oil from the bearing, making the pump lock up breaking the belt and cooking the motor.

It is possible to disassemble the pump and replace the seal, it’s a very fragile ceramic seal but it can be done. The seals are cheap- ~$10 or so, but the labour exceeds the labour of replacing the pump and it’s really easy to break the seal installing it, which you won’t know until you put it all back together.

I bought a kit from Onlineauto parts. The island mechanic thinks 5hrs, car's only worth that, have to do itmyself. I;ve done a serria drunk and stoned, is there much different on this thing' I guess I take the shourd off, remove radiator, remove belts. I wish it didn;t have an air/con. Nothing hard about it is there ?

Same as sierra basically
Might take 5hrs blindfolded
Just mark the timing belt or youtube how to line up the pulleys. G16b top cam pulley mark may be different to sierra from memory

BlueSuzy might be on the money. Take the shroud off first. A littlle airconditioniung thing has a bracket to the top of the shroud, the bolt into the shroud was missing so I thought I'd just loosen the bracket and turn it out of the way FUCKING GREEN SHIT EVERYWHERE.

Took 4hrs to get the new water pump bolted on, then stood around for an hour patting myself on the back. Not going to check the timing before I put it all back together. Wasn't much fun getting the pullys off. the crank pully came off wiht the timing belt pully, can't be one piece can they, haven't hit it with a hammer yet, but I will. Got to seperate them to put timing belt on.

Be a lot quicker next time if I've fucked the timing up. Tell me it's a non-interference motor please.

Please make sure the crank pulley bolt is correctly torqued - it didn't need to be disturbed to change the water pump, but since you went that route, you'll need to do it to avoid fretting and damage to the key ways

Couldnt torque it because gun wouldn't fit in. Locktite and hammer. Have had one flogged out on a Sierra, and fixed with liquid steel.

A/C's not worth switching on now. I had a regas on a Terios, and didn;t take. A autolecky I meet bent down and looked at the front and said the orifice tube hadn't been replaced, so I'd wasted my money. Does this car have something similar , or do I just get a regs ?. Worked fine before.
