Apparantly Suzuki heads are a bit of a PITA to work on compared to some other vehicles!

I'm in the market for a valve spring compressor, what's going to work for me?

the issue is that to get the valves out, you need to remove the springs, then get the cam out... it will cost about $60 to get the valves out of a head if you get a shop to do it.... but they will do it right and once...lol

I cant see the link but I have removed the springs on an 8 valve head before whilst still on the car and the cam and rocker gear still fitted with a generic overhead compressor before

16v are harder though, I used a normal on bench lever one with some pipes of pipe and a magnet I think

I agree with what you're saying about the 16v one. I might have another look at the head tonight and see if the sort of compressor that Scrawn mentioned would work. I may just have to make something up like that bench mounted thing, I am sure I have seen pics of one of those before.

The problem is next time I want to pull a head apart it's another $60. Not to mention running back and forward to the machine shop. It's an opportunity to buy tools man! Do you not get it!!!???

Getting the springs off is the easy part. No special tools needed. A spark plug socket and a big copper hammer takes care of it.

Getting it back together is a bit more complex

I`ve always given my head`s to a head shop, I have a tool like thi one scrawn put a link up for if you want to try it.
If you have a steel bench, weld an upright of around 40cm, bolt a pipe to that so it can be used as a leaver & cut out a section of yet another piece so you can get the collett`s out/in & have that on the leaver, If you know what I mean... can picture it, but when I read it
