i m goin to buy new led lights for my rear bar and i want to no can i wire them striaght up to the old light cables and do i need anything else to make it work right

Led's wire up the same as the old lights.. You may have to replace your indicator flasher can with an LED flasher unit to stop them flashing ridiculously fast.

be careful with the wiring read the instruction the wire colours aren't what you would expect them to be (red isn't positive black isn't negetive etc.)

Most of the LEDs I've wired up used RED as BRAKE.... YELLOW as indicator... WHITE as TAILLIGHT and BLACK as EARTH but this may not be the case with all of them.

A lot of em are same as trailer wiring

red is brake
brown is tail
yellow or green is indicator
white is earth
black is reverse

youll also need a flasher unit that doesnt speed up with less load, Tridon make a road train one that fits the plug but I am over telling people about it cause nobody has ever been succesful in buying one and plugging it in without setting fire to something

How the hell do you set fire to something plugging in a flasher can???

These are available at most auto parts shops. I fitted one to my car which is ALL LEDs and it plugged straight in and works fine.

I dont know, the flasher is 2 pin, the socket is 3, so it can go in a right way and a wrong way, didnt matter how many times you tell people to find the power pin 1st they jsut shrug and figure they will jsut plug it in and see

Flasher can is located at the top of the fuse box... Near the accellerator pedal.

i only have leads on the rear and my flasher tickers really fast.
would getting a led flasher box fix this. or are they only for cars that have leds all round.

You can mix and match incandescent with the LED's, the electronic flashers blink at the same speed no matter what is connected.

I tired to use the resistors with the stock flasher and it was just a mess. The wires broke off one of the resistors so i had to buy another. Then the resistors got so hot they melted the electrical tape.

The resistors also defeat the purpose of having LED's because the resistors draw just as much amperage as the old lights.


I found an electronic flasher and all my lights have worked great since. I can also leave my LED park lights on for over 14 hours and it doesn't drain my battery. The only downfall is that the flash will not speed up when a light is out or disconnected.

Neither of those will work properly, you need a non load sensing flasher unit, the LED's place less load on the electrical system, which is why they flash faster.

Have at look at aftermarket motorbike units, they change to LED all the time.
