I dont get any sound so I cant tell if its doing it at idle or revving it what but,
an exhaust leak, retarded timing, rich mixture or a combination of all of them will give you flames on overrun
The big part is the retarded timing, its heaps easier to make it happen if you still have a good flame in teh cylinder when the exhaust valve opens

As for flame in the cylinder when the exhaust valve open this pretty much says it all, this was my first test run on the engine without exhaust, I'd imagine more than enough flame to ignite the excess fuel
I just need to find the source of the excess juice
Injectors are fine I'll be swapping the ecu this arvo I have a hunch that will be causing the injectors to pump a dick load more than normal

With quad throttle bodies there is deffinately no lag in response

in my old soarer i had a 3 inch exhaust no cat the gearbox in them is designed to misfire the first change then go into gear so it doesnt hammer the box supposed to be a luxury thing smoother shifts or sumthing it retards the engine timing before changing it used to shoot flames without the cat on gear change then i put a good shift kit in the box after that no flames just wheelspin on changes.

It's always a concern when you've got a bad exhaust manifold gasket leak, that running it like that for long time will end up stuffing a valve. Problem is oxygen gets in the leak between pulses and oxidizes the red hot exhaust valves. I assume this is what you're talking about.
Having said that, I'd find it highly unlikely that could happen in this instance because it takes quite a while to happen, and the engine needs to have running hard (e.g. highway speeds) to get the valves up to a very high temp where the oxidization can occour.
