iv finally given up (for now) at getting my stuck fill plug out of my gearbox on my GV, but it deferentially needs a oil change so im thinking if i drain the oil and measure out the right amount could i just pour it in through the gear stick hole?

I had to fill front diff thru breather for ages, too. had a small funnel, and a lot of patience
Can help a lot if you warm the diff oil first.

Since when do territorians change the oil in anything?
I had to drain the oil out of my transfer through the front driveshaft hole

Could it be something like you removed the gear lever while it was in gear?

It should have a flow back..
Follow the selector forward a lil, you'll see 4 12mm bolt's in the top of the box, you may have to take the selector box off & pour it in there..
I could of sworn it had a flow back..

card board roll, over hole, blow into it, see if air flows thru, then you least know if oil can get thru, maybe gv is a greased rather than oiled gearstick.

You may have to lower the box a bit, taking the mount out should be enough, & take the selector box off & fill it through there..

have no idea if it is cold up there at night, but if so, warm the oil first, in a hot bath, or similar, the oil may be too thick to flow werll

OK. Was a wild guess. NT is a big place )
I have been frozen in the outback at night regularly, away from coast, but that wasn't this time of year.
