Hi I have a 91 lwb vit with ds battery mount
I need to find the most powerful battery that will fit in the STD tray
It has a ameron battery in it now but it has died
Not bad as it is over 7 years old
Was thinking of getting the same one but wanted to know what other batteries people are running
Ps it has to be sealed I will never run wet cell batteries again

just food for thought, it doesn't take much to kick over a vit motor. Rather than getting a single big one get two smal ones and run them in parrallel. If one dies you still got the other

I am considering fabbing 3 12v 20aH sealed batteries in parralel. just trying to find a 3rd one cheap (got two for free at the tip which have been holding charge for the last 2 years)

It's the 12000 pound winch that can draw 400 amps that's the problem
I also have to get a new 40 amp deepcycle for the pass side
The stupid air intake is in such a stupid spot
If it ran straight instead of having the bends in it u could fit a heaps bigger batt in there

Batteries Direct have a special on at the moment. Just picked up an Optima Blue top 34M for $275 delivered. Been using the same battery in my SWB with a 12000lb winch for 2 1/2 years no worries. Fits staight in with no mods so should do the same for a Vit.

Post dig, But are those optimas the beez kneez? Would the standard altenator be able to supply enough power to the battery whilst using something like a 9000pound winch with the head lights on?

I had a Optima Yellow Top D34 in my magna with a 1.5kW sound system and it coped no worries.

I am in the process of installing a D51 into the Vitara and upgrading the cabling. For a small battery it packs a lot of punch... 41Ah, 500A CCA, 625A MCA

I ended up getting to odyssey extreams as I got them real cheap
I now have 1140 cca out of the 2 small batteries so that should be more then enough
Looking at the measurements on the optima spec sheet I didn't think they would fit in the tray
