Anyone use them, reports good or bad, brands.

I want to raise my compression to around 11-1, there are a few ways, but high comp pistons would be the easiest, trouble is, the only ones I have found so far are pretty Exxy.

Set of quality con-rods, pistons n rings, bit over AUD 2,000, then still bearings etc.

The high comp pistons I used were from LROR.

Mart used YZ125 pistons I believe

Im doing up my donk, the cam and springs are sitting at home, the head is in Adelaide being ported n polished with oversized valves and a 3 angle valve job. Have to get the cam to him to get it all matched is all.

Has been told to me, by head man, that if I want to get this running as good as it can, up compression to the 11 to 11.5-1 mark

yes, looking for high comp pistons on LROR site, only has 1.3 ones, or so I can find.

Yeah, Josh had a 1.3. I can't see any G16a high comp stuff either.

How much compression could be gained by skimming the head, if any at all?

Have a look on redline, they should have a few threads about high comp pistons.

Off topic but how much roughly did it cost to get the head work done as I'm thinking of doing some head work to mine

Hant been done yet, have to get the cam to them, but a basic port and polish, reseat valves is around 400, a told the G series heads are a bad performer, and a port and polish really livens them up.

Mine all up will be over the grand mark id say.

My understanding is, very little, have been known to be wrong now and then but.

This is why Im going down the high com piston road, would love to think its just a shave, wonderfully cheap by comparison.

Send the whole lot to Tony at Knight Engines, for a complete build rather than get the head done at one spot & the bottom end at another.

Honda guys use G16 pistons to lower compression in their Turbo Vtec Yo! things, perhaps some kind of Honda piston will work?

If you're going to invest that much in it it'd be worth getting Tony a G16b or G13b (as well as your G16a) head to compare which has the most potential. I'm sure you could pick up a cracked G16b head for next to nothing. Just to compare G16a and G16b would be very interesting and could pick you up a number of ponies. But who knows, you could find the G16a head has more power potential.

I'd just use the twin 40mm DCOE's he's got for it!!

Tony won't be cheap but will be money well spent. Will be interesting to see what he does to the top end.

I'm assuming you're having the bottom end fully build seeing you're looking at pistons?

I had my entire head rebuilt (down to replacing the rocker rods) and it cost $380

was it ported & flow tested? as that's where the man hours & dollars go, a simple recon & freshen up is usually pretty cheap.

seeing SuziBlu has gone all out with carbs & cam etc, might as well build the rest to suit.

Years ago he build a motor for a friend and it was just pure awesomeness, still gets around today & hasn't been touched since it was bolted into the car.

this is very similar to the one he screwed together for my mate years ago, L24 monster in a datto 1600 with twin webers, though this one is fuel infected.
