Just thinking about this and it could be a noisy alternator bearing. You really need a mate to chuck his or her head under the bonnet and see if you can get a better fix on where it is coming from.

Yeah wish I could but it only happened between 60-80 bit hard to get your head under there when its moving,

Dont think its bearing like noise, will check the manifold out in the morning, may even get me some extractors if it is cracked.

Which gear are you in when it happens? Try to replicate the noise at a lower speed in a lower gear at same RPM. This should apply the same load to the motor as when it happens at 60-80.

was it any gear??

some time's a dry uni in the jack shaft can sound like that, being so short, the noise sound's like under the bonnet. Worth a look.

You may have a clutch bearing or something going bad with how you say it goes away with the clutch in. If you find it isn't coming from the trans area I would be looking at your drive belt and everything it runs. As said above get a mate to put his head under the hood or do it yourself and have a look lissen and feel.

seeing as it only happens at speed u could most likely rule out ur belts

but u could give them a check just so u no you've covered the simple things as most times it seems to be the simple things we over look

just my 2 cents and now back to the shadows
