gday guys my sierra has been off the road for a bit while im replacing parts and fixing why it stopped lol
my problem started-
was driving home got up to 100km/h on the motorway. then i went to overtake and it just would not accelerate anymore?? and slowly the car was slowing down till i was doing just 20ks in 1st gear and if i went to go up a gear it would almost die. i pulled up in my driveway just turned of the car and poped the hood. the extractors were glowing red and then the car wouldnt turn backon. it will kick over but wont fire up??
any ideas i am leaning towards, dizzy, leads, sparkplugs, fuel??
i reaplced the dizzy cap, leads look fine i put in 2 new fuel filters and some metho with new fuel incase it was contaminted with water. and i have platnium spark plugs or wateva they are and gave them a clean and there back looking brand new only been in the car for 6months?

it sounds like your ignition timing is not advancing when you accelerate, check to see that the vacuum advance line to your dizzy isnt missing, if you have a spare dizzy, throw it on
engines get really hot when the ignition timing is too retarded

Dont want to be abearer of bad new, but if the exhaust got that hot you may find that your rings are a little like licorice, your compession will be non existant

Sounds like you got it too hot....
Have you tried a tablespoon of fuel down the carby to see if it'll fire?
If it is toast I have a couple of good running engines here.

I think the reason it wouldnt start is cause the engine was too hot for the ignition system.
Tried starting it since you rolled into your driveway?

if it got that hot all the fluid in the radiator would have flushed out, and the motor would have cooked its self.

when it stopped i let it cool down and i checked the water and it was still full
this happened about 1 month ago have tried to start it a few times after replacing a few lil things. I put fuel down the carby even a tiny bit of metho incase there was water in there.
but other than that it kicks over fine but just keeps kicking over and over.
may have to see u about a motor jason if this one dont fire up.
will see about checking the compression and all but before all this the motor was running strong just smelt fuely and used it lol
