diesel engine was one of my design considerations, but i figure its much easier to get hold of stuff to make moonshine then it is bio-diesel. Plus there is the whole wood gas generator option (which doesn't have to come from trees...)
In a convoy an old toyota diesel would have its merits as a community workhorse (working on the principle of interdependence, that a community can achieve more together than the total of all of them individually)

The point is it DOESN'T HAVE TO BE ZOMBIES it could be any widespread natural disaster or the aftermath of world war ten.

While where at it, has anyone thought to make a winch from a starter motor? Watching top gear S.America made me think of it

Look i think you are focusing to much on the zombies themselves and miss the point of the thread.

I knew it would get a little silly when i started the topic, but little snippits are here and there. Joe pointed out the clutch issue and why an auto is better etc etc

I think its interesting to see ideas on 'completely off the grid' things. Ok so its just a mental exercise, great, it may help your lateral thinking when troubleshooting away from the big cities. Knowing how to make a makeshift carb from a plastic bottle,a rag and some duct tape might get you out of a jam.

Some kind hydrogen generator made out of coke bottles, garden hose and duct tape could be handy. Wood is probably easier to find than water though...

It's OK, I get that. Just if you are going to have an open mind and have a converstaion/debate like this, I don't think you can start discounting a suggestion like "buy/get a helicopter" considering all the merrits of the idea  . Far out if we are talking about zombies, I'm not sure what you can discount, unless you try to tell me Brussell sprouts taste nice 8O

hmmm, do you think zombies are fermentable?
I guess you could probably have a couple of set static locations where you dump bodies to make a bio-gas generator  (methane generated from biological break down in an airless enviroment)

I think the hydrogen generator would also be good in a static sense to if you could rig a altenator to a river or a windmill it could happily work away filling up some large tanks, might need a preassure release so it dons't blow over prolonged periods

If they are fermentable, perhaps you can then drink them to get wasted.
Eventually killing enough brain cells so that you have no brains to offer them, meanwhile still wanting to ferment and drink them?

Would the zombies then be having this discussion about you on AZ (auszombies.com)

actually i really want to have a PTO transfer case now (Power Take OFF)

I just really into making stock sierra's super flexible and self-sufficient without making an overweight two storey behemoth.
