my mate rolled his vitara so i grabed some stuff of it , including a 60 ltr fuel tank to replace my dented 40ltr
has any one already dun this and if so could you put up some pics thanks
the dent takes up pretty much 6ltr's so im pretty desperate

Same spot & mount's, as long as it's not a factory ute..

What model is it from?

The LWB tanks (55L) are quite wide, and, from memory, won't sit between the chassis rails.

There's a tall wide tank (2.0 SWB EFI?) that would be a PITA to fit.

The 70-75 litre GV tank won't fit anywhere without bashing it into shape. It's huge. It's not going in a SWB.

THe 1.6 SWB EFI tank is a nice fit but it's only 45L. It is a fair fabrication job to make it fit as all the mounts have to move. It's easier with a 2" BL too.

that's what I put in Buttercup, lot's of work, I don't think I kept 1 original mount..

As for body lift, You can make it fit with out it.

I don't have any meaningful photo's, but I did another one that we raised the floor of the car 2", along with the 2" BL. The bottom of the tank flange is level with the crossmember. The tank isn't much lower than the chassis rail.

Raising the floor was running through my mind, but that was it.
I am planing to run a steel guard, but i see ho much departure I could gain judging by that pic.

Still not a fan of BL tho.

I do see the advantage's but don't like it.

BLless cars are cool, but most people aren't willing to cut that far to run the tyre sizes we run at the lift heights we want to run them

You'll notice the front flares overlap the bonnet. A lot.

PS this car runs a vit tank with the flange bolted to the floor behind the front seats. The filler is just behind the passenger side B pillar. No clearance problems there

now that is cool steve.alot of chopping involved there but all for good reason,getting bigger tank up,great angles,big clearance.

id body lift before hacking that much tho but good on yas for making it work.Hate hard tops without doors on,make him some half doors

I agree about the 1/2 doors... but the owner doesn't dig them.

He took the GF on her first trip on the W.E - No doors. It was 6? when we aired down.

PS that car makes a mockery of all the work I've put into cars over the years. carby 1.6, trimatic, 4:1 case, 3.9 diffs, spool/detroit RUF, Vit PS. OME springs, some ranchos the owner had lying around. 15X8 KMC beadlocks and 35" Krawlers. It's owned everything it's driven to date. It's awesome - and it was a 6 week build- and with 31's on it, it's his DD and you wouldn't look at it twice on the road because it's almost stock height.

cool cool.sorry to drag this thread off topic but how do you guys find power steer with the bigger tyres???33,34,35s etc?Do they get hot,have yas plumbed a little cooler in ret?

We use falcon pumps and apart from the belts slipping the steering is fine.

I put the 55L vit fuel tank in mine.

I have 2" BL, and removed the breather bottle and used the stock on.
I had to use washers to shim it, so there wasnt any rubbing etc going on.

The biggest pain was actually the exhaust. It required some heat shielding and a new rear section from the mufler.

The front bolt holts on the tank are directly below the chasis rail which supports the shock absorbers on the rear, and the brackets fit inside nicely.
The rear bolts up in line with the tube x member on the rear. It was easier for me to put the angle iron all the way accross.
I still need to replace the shims with a flat strap, to spread the load better.

Swb Vit efi tank. I measured it by water. 50L

2" BL, Bashed floor, Original expansion tank next to filler. Hose cut and shut with pipe to suit. Brackets for crossmember to original holes. Other mounts straight through chassis.

i think i can do it i cant remember the year and model of the vit but bye the looks of things the tank is a bit close to the chassis and the other side the exhaust.
i was thinking i would jus make a guardwile its off to cover the bottome.

I did cut the stock fuel tank mounts off.
I use a 3mm plate which bolted up to the shock cross member) to spread the load, and welded some mounts which drop down from that to the tank.
