its approx 860mm tall empty and I'm guessing 800 loaded with 2 tonne

machine (picker) weighs 1.8 tonne wet (fuel oil and water filled tyres)
so it needs to be reasonably heavy duty.
Ive had a machine and 1.2 tonne of cable on my other 3 tonne tandem so I figured I may over build this one

2.47 just narrow enough to fit clearance lights and stay under 2.5m
machine is 2.45m wide.
I was going to build one large enough for two zooks but I think it may have been too much for the poor old colorado

you could still fit 2 shorties across the tray

Might be some overhang either side, but who cares

Looking good AJ, are you adding any bracing between the lower sub frame? two profiles of box section so tall might move over time.

Legal width of the trailer is (so the Vicroads guy told me) is the width of the trailer body, lights are not part of the measurement.

+1

Don't want to be a negative nancy, but the pic I linked doesn't look right.

Besides that, looks good.

Designing a trailer to carry the picker looks like a mission, being so long and appears to have the bulk of the weight in one end.

Whats the pintle/towball weight empty, and loaded?

hey jim,jdk and kenn
yep axles only temped in for that shot
its all finished now less paint and final fittout of lights etc.

Ball weight empty is 210kg (checked on pallet scales) and 190kg loaded with cherry picker, so all up say 2.5 tonne.
road tested today loaded and unloaded up to 110km/hr all good and corners great and most importantly backs even better
the balance is pretty good as I found the balance point loaded and moved the alxle back 180 mm from there.

sounds good but my front locker is busted, joe tells me Ive got a cracked piston in the locker and the slightly oversize 34's may be the cause
I'll be back running soon with cromos and a reco locker.

Haha i love how massive this trailer is.. And damn she looks solid!

The suspension is interesting, more exciting than the generic tandem suspension setups!

What colour is it being painted? I might've missed this tho
