Well I slapped them in anyway, as I had a blown bulb and the vit was defectable as it was.

The light is certainly better than the previous bulbs, but I will still get some 55/60 plus bulbs in the next few days.

I ran these in my gv with upgraded wiring. They failed after 6 months or so. Possibly due to vibration

That's exactly what I did and the results are great. I also put in new reflector type housings, not sure how much they helped/hindered, but the light output is nice and white.

If you need any more light than this get yourself some spotties and put HIDs in those.

I actually thought a reasonable way to compare output would be to see what metering a camera came up with from different points in front of the light

Cameras meter reflected light not incident light.

Incident is the actual light falling onto a subject not the light being reflected.

I have a light meter which measures incident light.

When were you thinking of doing this?

4WD Action or if you prefer, 3WD Craption, just did a driving light Comparo... between normal, HID, and LED, light output, spread and distance... some results were surprising... Issue # 161...

There is way to much info/data to put up here, plus all the pictures showing the driving lights in action at night... issue 161 is the latest issue of 4WD Action... if you really want to read it all, i suggest buying that issue, its only $10... unless they have all that info on their website, but i doubt it...

im running cheap neolight reflectors and phillips ultinon globes and the light output is amazing... no relay either.

its crazy bright.

I'm running the neolight reflectors too. I had 90/130w bulbs in, they were mental. Highbeam was like a spotlight. But I got some HIDs, much better light.

90/130w is pretty bright with a relay and decent wiring but also VERY hot and burns reflectors even in bosch glass H4s, hate to see what happens to poly ones. I say go the plus type bulbs with a relay. How much light does anybody need? 3WD craption like to show cars with HIDs all over them, to me nothing says wanker like a shiny fourby with 10 spotties on it.

Yeah they did get hot. Thats why I got rid of them and went HID
Some bright headlights and two VERY bright spotties is all I need.(spot/spread combo)

I've ended up with new reflective headlight fittings to replace the poor old dirty & rusting ones, followed by Narva 50/65W Plus 100% globes. No additional strain on the existing wiring & even the missus is happy to drive it in the dark now!

Using the plus 50's on the LWB keen to see how they go to. Just have to get it on the road. I will be upgrading the wiring though by puting in 4 relays.

I'll keep that in mind, but the poor bugger hasn't gone very far lately & certainly not in the dark, as the wife & I were in a prang that wrote off our XR6 just over a month ago & we've been off work & recovering since then. After stuffing around with eBay globes, my suggestion would be to go into SuperCheap & grab a pair & try them in the work van. They'll drop straight in & shouldn't need any adjustments.

I have the Narva Blue Plus 90's in my GV, in the info that comes with them, it says they wont last as long as standard globes, but still good for a long time...
I know they make a big difference, lots more light, its a whiter light too, and can also see further...

Now 2 months later & the globes are still working OK. They do get used on the daily commute so that others can see me out on the open road.
