Hey guys.
Im currently about to have some wedling done on my diffs, perches, shock mounts and bracing it...

My mate just wants to double check on what electrodes he should use, as he is the one welding.

Anything that starts with a 12.. Something 'user friendly'
I use all sorts of brands/types.. But 12p in a yellow+blue box is the best imo

Id be very sus about a welder that asks what sort of rods to use. Tell him, thanks mate, but me other mate (whoever) has the gear an rods.

Even if you have to pay for the job, better by far than a fuked diff housing.

I would say its good, millions of people wouldnt even relise there are different ones

tell him to use something for structural applications on Carbon steel or a normal GP rod

Low hydrogen rods would be best, but if he knows what he is doing with a stick welder, then GP rods will suffice.

i use TC16's (WIA i think) there low hydrogen, high strenght and kinda hard to use, but if someone is welding diff perch's and shock mounts, and is asking these questions i would get someone else too...

he is probably asking cause he doesnt know what the material is and doesnt know what kind of load its under, I might even guess he welds something unusual a bit

i guess a alloy boat builder would have a steady hand but not really know this side of the trade fair enough royce sounds like you know him....

Opposite for me, somone asked me for alloy TIG advice the other day
I told him to use steel, or use a bolt

Yeah my mate is a boiler maker, probably stuck doing the same piss easy job everyday ahaha
