Chaps, Quick question:

Most are aware I'm building a flat tray sierra lwb. I'm wanting to put a bigger fuel tank in it, At a rough guess I have room of about 690mm wide - 750mm long, depth isn't an issue. Has anyone ever changed there tank to a bigger unit out of something else? I'd like to find a factory efi tank from something with an inbuilt pump. No I don't want a vit or x90 one, Im talking 50-60 litres or bigger. I'm going for a walk around the local wreckers on Sat morning with a measuring tape, but figured someone has surely put a bigger one in at somestage in a flat tray.

Q2 - For all you guys running Hilux diff's, what brake master cylinder are you using? My trayback was originally a drover, so it has the normal Sierra booster, but when I eventually work out a rear disc setup, I figured I'll need a bigger booster, considering the brake piston size upgrade.

Yep. V6 jackaroo. I'll take some pics in the morning. It fits VERY neatly between the rails.

Im using a LWB Vitara tank in my Sierra, it holds around 70litres. Its not a perfect fit but its close.

Im going to use a vit lwb 2.0L efi tank in my tub/styleside back lwb. (so under floor, but floor will be raised)

In my buildup. Moved a crossmember, and modified others..

As for the brakes I'm just running a standard sierra brake booster.

Still have the drum brakes on the back though and it is a bit bias towards the back i.e. the rear locks first even on tar but i would think one of those in line bias adjusters would fix the problem (you can get them from ebay willwood make them) and its not a noticeable problem either.

Im unsure what booster im running yet. I might just run a whole landruiser brake booster and cylinder and test. Mine will need to be engineered.

Yours will probably unable to be egineered in tas.

Thanks, I guess I'll try the Sierra booster first, I just thought because the piston size in the calipers will be bigger, that increased pedal travel may/should occur.

As for engineering, after 3 failed attempts, I got it passed in principle for hilux diffs, chassis extension, gti donk, & power steering. I found a loop hole that I used to allow me to get almost full width lux diffs under a nt chassis. Im meant to be shortening the front axle 35mm, and the rear 25mm, but the engineer Im using, engineered my GTi when I turbo'ed it, and is also in the same cams car club i'm in, so He understands what I'm doing with it, and also what I can do to get it all legal.

Im running narrow offset wheels on the day and standard tyres to get it engineered. So basically I can bring that track width in without shortening the axles, which leaves me with a ute that is roadworthy bar the wheels and tyres. Im happy with that. However I'm running 33's on it for the time being, and at this stage I have no real need to go to 35's.

Back on topic, have you had a chance to grab any pics fatzook?, I'm about to go to the wreckers, late start today, ended up pretty full last night at a work do.

The tank sits almost level with the underside of the chassis, and about 150m above the chassis.

Thanks mate, spot on, I'm planning on running my tank forward of my shock tower, a water tank (20-30litres) behind the tower (running an onboard shower system), and a rear winch cradle behind that. If I can get that forward of the tower, That will be spot on!

Not sure you will. The chassis is narrower there. And The shock tower will be in the way unless you move it.

I'll get some measurements for you.
