after pulling apart my g16a engine down to nothing ready for a rebuild i found theres not much cross hatching left in the cylinders, and a fair bit of scratches in all cylinder bores hence why i think my piston rings are shot. so need a hone and some rings, but i dont no much about the sizes and all that.

what is the standard piston size for a g16a. mine said 0.50 on top. not sure if thats over size or not. does suzistore have rings for this piston.

another thing is i see on cylinder two and three is on the bottom of the sleeve its chiped away, or looks like it wasnt made properly from factory

Standard bore size for g16 is 75mm

Mine measured around the 76mm mark(dogey) ill have to measure it properly

It could be overbored already?

If the pistons have "0.50" on them it has been bored half a mm (or 20 thou).
So bore size should be 75.5mm

measured bore with veniers and got 75.5mm so you are correct. Will it be ok to give the bore a hone to get my cross hatching back nd does suzistore have rings for these piston if not weres the best place to get good qaulity rings

Any auto parts shop should be able to supply an oversize ring set.

Honing and 0.5mm rings will get you going but won't last anywhere near as long as new +1.0mm pistons and rings and rebore.
I recently had an F10A bored and honed 40 thou (1.0mm) for $120.

didnt wont to get new pistons. the list is pretty big atm. i guess its better in the long run to get new pistons.my best mates dad is a engineer who rebuilds speedway cars, so ill ask him if he can rebore my block.

can you get 1.0mm piston and rings from repco, suzistore or lowrange. considering to get some high compression pistons if they will fit with out much work (valves) i see lowrange have them in 20, 40 and 60 thou but is that standard or 20, 40 60 thou over standard. i dont really get all this thou shit

40 though to a mm, best to not buy pistons till a mchine shop or somebody with the CORRECT gear can measure your bore, its likley to be out of round lower down and 1.0mm pistons might not be enough

i measured all bores witha vernier and got 75.5mm but i guess verniers are shit. the piston is 75mm. my bores are out of round now cos one way its 75mm and the other is 75.5mm. gonna take it to a engineer.

thought this was going to be a cheap rebuild, im thinking different now :S

One point Royce was trying to make is that verniers are not what you should be measuring the bore with.

i get what he saying. i just used verniers to get a estimate and verniers are much better then a ruler

the real wear will be down lower, up the top the piston hasnt touched so will read pretty good

set of pistons and a bore is pretty cheap over the next 200000km

i just went through this last week and 40 thou is about as big as u want to go before the bore ends up bigger then the head gasket opening

well mate, youre doing better then me, just pulled it down and found a dirty great crack between piston 1 and 2, so im on the look for another block

oh thats not good. only bad thing about my block im not sure about is that at the bottom of the cylinder sleeve is broken/chiped away or might just be when it got manufactured
