fuel pump died on site today, accidentally unplugged the lift pump feeding the efi pump and it sucked dry and died. Had an new bosch 044 pump sitting round from my old tubo vl days so i chucked it on and my god its louder than my engine.
Question : will this do for the time being or will this die a quick death with that much flow feeding such a small engine

cheers mick

should be right. i was running a walbro 500hp pump and it ran fine until it shit itself i think ran dry as well. running a stock vitara intank pump now and it works a treat with the 20v. The regulator on yours should handle it ok....i guess....

wont hurt the engine one little bit

points to consider though, do you run a surge tank? does the return from the engine go to the surge tank or fuel tank?, if it goes to the fuel tank the lift pump may not supply enough to keep the surge tank full

it will also heat the fuel up more with it moving around a lot, not really a problem here though

I run the 044 on my ute. No dramas.

Although I have swapped tanks now, so I am taking the 044 and carter pumps off.

heat was a concern but after an hour of hard driving the 044 was stone cold
Iam not running a surge tank just a Facet lift pump before the 044 pump.
oh well fingers crossed spose it didnt cost me anything i had it in the shed, im not so sure i will be able to put up with the noise though :) we'll see

Did you rubber mount the 044? I use a dense polypropylene foam from clark rubber to mount mine. It takes a fair bit of the vibration out of the pump. You still get a whiring noise as it primes, but it quietens down after that.

And it may pay to check the flow rate of your facett pump. Your system would benifit from a surge tank. That way the return line can be sent to the surge tank ensuring the 044 always has enough fool.

EDIT: I am selling mine if you decide to go down that road

I use an 044 on my zook.
When originally fitted it was beside the original carby tank on the chassis rail and sucked through ~18 inches of hose.

It was noisy as all hell.

I then fitted a facet lift pump in it's place, surge tank and relocated the 044 to behind the cab.
It is damn near silent now. The lift pump taps for a few seconds while priming if I haven't driven it for a few weeks and the system has drained dry. After it's primed you have to deliberately try to hear the fuel system working.

Provided your engine is fuel injected, the fuel pressure regulator will just return the unused fuel to recycle to the tank.
The excess pressure/flow would only be an issue if the return line reaches it's capacity and can't cope.

yeah sorry engine is 16v baleno, pumps are rubber mounted but still make a unbearable noise, i will swap to a vl pump and mayby a petersburg lift pump shortly, i have thought about a surge tank but in 18mnths of driving i havent had an issue with fuel starvation so i think i will leave it for the moment but will reconfigure the design when i get round to putting a small turbo on.

It may not have Issues with starvation, but the noise is due to the pump sucking fuel, not just pushing.
They're not designed to do both.
A lift pump with surge tank will fix it

went down the suzuki shop after some more issues like me going deaf and the new setup not wanting to work when cold ?
They normally use the setup off the 1.6 diahatsu feroza's with no pre pump without any issues. I was skeptical at first but after seeing the setup i thought i'd give it a go.
It is deadly silent, i cant even hear it at all and is rubber mounted to a bracket that fitted perfectly with a couple of self tappers.
sorry the pics suck I'm so over being covered in fuel.
