Thanks, Ron

the engine is on its side and so is the gearbox, i think it would be very hard to do.

Sump is special. Engine is slanted, gearbox is straight.

So if you mount the engine straight, when the sierra gearbox is bolted up, it will be in a big tilt.

There is a thread somewhere on here about them

Carry motor http://www.auszookers.com/index.php?nam ... arry+g13bb

You would need an adaptor plate to gearbox, to keep everything straight..

You could probably use the tank also. Setup for efi.

Ok awesome :D.. So what do you suggest would be the safer bet?

-Transplant the carry G13bb(if i can find somewhere to by the adaption gear)
or
-Use the Efi and tank setup On my already installed motor?

Thanks, Ron

Couldn't you just work out how to mount the engine on the piss?

Or is it a completely won't fit deal?

Coz if you could lean it to the passenger side a bit, it just might help with the suzuki lean?

I'm not to sure untill I pull it out and have a look.. I was hoping that i could get away with changing tehoil pick up and sump and bolt it in to my box.. again will just have to wait till i pull it out :)

I think the only way to fix my suzi lean is new calmini 3" springs :P lol..

thats next on the list..

The bellhousing pattern on the motor is clocked 30 degrees, so that the engine can lay over but the gearbox remains verticle.

So if you stand the motor up, the gearbox will be at a 30 degree angle

lol thanks anyhow :) :D
The motor needs a flush and clean but I plan to rebuild/refresh it before I install it.. thinking I might use the efi head and I'll head up and grab a smokey motor from Jas and morph the 2 together

seem like a good idea to me :peaceout:

You need to get a tape measure, park them side by side, and have a good look, you may think of something brilliant.
Drop it in and have look see, as all the theories are not as good as suck it and see.
Unless its a DD that needs to be kept going.

yeh its my Daily also.. hence the need to have it 'guaranteed' to go in.. if that makes sence.

first thing is to rip it out and strip what parts are good off the carry and ebay them.. if i make $200 back i'll be cheering..

then I can start on the rebuild.. will be needing new springs first.. have a pretty awesome Suzy lean happening lol..

Are you sure the bolt pattern on the engine block is rotated?? Or the is it gearbox?

I've played with the F10A used in the Super Carry, and it is an identical block to the 1.0lt Sierra. It just has a rotated pattern on the gearbox bellhousing, NOT the block. The engine is interchangable but uses a different Sump, Exhaust and Inlet manifold to accomodate the slant. I think they would have done the same with the G13BB in the Carry.

I think you'd be fine using the Carry 1.3 with a Coily/Jimny sump and oil pick-up and using the right gearbox. I probably go with a Coily G13BB box as it will be more similar to a Sierra than a Jimny box.

Although the Inlet manifold is slanted, you should ne fine with it being EFI, unless it causes clearances issues on the RH inner guard.

Out of interest, Suzuki has used the G16B in the APV van. It is also laid over on it's side, and I would bet it is also a standard block with different sump and manifolds, and the gearbox pattern rotated.

I crawled under one at a dealership, and could swear the bellhousing looked the same as a standard BB box. But ya never know.....

And don't the slanted motor have a longer block casting on one side to help accomodate the sump? Or does that extended part of the block just unbolt? :?

Yeah it is definately the gearbox that is different not the block on the early ones so I would imagine it would be the same deal with the later ones. I cant imagine them recasting the block to suit the vans.

No idea, too new for my experience.

This pic off the net shows a G13BB from a Carry. In it you can see the different exhaust manifold and LH engine mount bracket to lay it over on it's side.

You can see the rocker cover is different to put the oil filler cap at the right angle for a slant engine, but what about the sump? You can't see too much of it from that angle, but it looks to me to be an ordinary skirt flange for the sump, even the same as a G13A/G13BA??

so if its the same blcok, this means it will bolt in however the motor would be vertical and not on a lean? I'm guessing the lean comes from how it mounts into the carry? would this affect how the engine ran I.e: would it need to be mounted in the sierra on a lean?

If not and it can be bolted vertically - can i just use a coily sump and pickup, And just use the carry bellhousing on my G13a box, and use my extractors?

Or am I thinking on the wrong path of things lol :)..

Wait hang on  .. If its the bellhousing on the gearbox is all that is different and not the motor, then when the carry motor is mounted vertically my box will mount exactly as the G13a that i'm already running does?

The only thing that will differ is the sump/pickup and the exhaust manifold? which are interchangeable from Coily/jimny's?

Ron

Got it!

But the Inlet manifold is also angled to suit the slant. EFI will function on the slant, but it may foul on body or chassis bits, or not line up with the air filter.

Ahh ok my brains finally decided to click lol..

Well the air filter isnt worrying me as much I can work with making something up..

As for the Intake, i wasnt really worried but now i am :P I dont fancy trying to find an intake plenium.. would probably be cheaper to get a custom one made lol.

Will know for sure when i sit it in the engine bay and can physically see whats what..
