This is what I tow behind my Jimny

Image

Just gone up a steep rocky slope bordered by old mine shafts - that was a "moment"
Image

Setup out near Mt Jackson
Image

Total weight 285kg, has brakes, independent suspension, low profile hitch so it fits under the rear door. Galvanised steel. Just had to make a few mods to suit the job.

I tow this (but with Zook rims and tyres on Sierra wheelbase now):

Which sets up like this:

And wish I had the motivation to finish restoring my boat so I could again tow this:

Worth a look for ideas, but dunno if it's what you're chasing - Pod trailers/campers. Light as shit, OK size, perfect for a zook to tow... not DIY though.

i have no budget yet, i was more impressed with the trailer design than the homo jeep camper. eg, small rear over hang, deep sided, big wheels & guards.

something like sort of like what royce is running would be about right.

Empty without tent 170kg inc tyres etc. +60kg for tent.

So a sierra with a 450kg tow rating can carry a 280kg payload in this trailer. I have MANY times had in excess of 1400kg's in it  Very strong trailer 8)

i want that one.... (points to fatzooks trailer)

FYI i've had a few quite moments with those photo's, especially the one with rusho, the pretty coily driver 8O  :gross:

how much?

i like the jeep one with the flush sides, & dig zukenutter's "full width" trailer with the enclosed wheel arches.

better factor in a TSOR rear bar w/ receiver hitch in that price...

Yeah flat sides are easy done. Can also make it so that the rear gate seals against the back of the trailer.

Are you putting a camper top on it? What size trailer do you want? Mine is 3.5'x5' internal. Same wheel track as a WT sierra.

i'll go with the roof top tent set up the same as yours & joe's, sealed tail gate would be nice, but trailers are not going to come close to being dust proof.

would have to be the same wheel track as the sv420

what brand is it? A good one should at least be powder coated. where i work they start at about $35k and go up they won camper trailer of the year. and our SUPER CAMPER (which is really a pop top) start at about $65k and end about $100k

I was thinking of carrying one of those easy up tents,
for an extra room on long stays,
and bit of cover for bbq etc.
Cheaper alternative to changing tent top to something more snazzy.

Good idea, nice and light, too.
It could also go slightly over trailer to keep a dry way in to bed
