Here goes.

Put a new gearbox and clutch into my 1991 model vitara. Gearbox out of a 1988/1989, which was tighter than my original one and had installed trasfer gears into it before putting it in.
Also installed one of these, http://www.puresuzuki.com/CF%20II%20Clutch.htm , centre force dual friction clutch.
Now i have installed it all. The started motor wont turn the engine over. I can feel it engaging, just not doing a thing. I do have an old starter motor, but it was going fine with the old gearbox and what not.

This is giving my grey hairs.

Any help appreciated.

As said... Start by seeing if you can turn the engine over by hand.
If all seems ok there then start checking your earth to the engine and power feeds to the starter.
Check what voltage at the battery, both while th car is sitting and while in the crank position.. Also do the same check on the starter motor main battery feed onto the solenoid.

I wouldnt rule out starter motor.. But it sounds unlikely (As you haven't had a problem before)
