ok,

i have done a spoa conversion to my swb sierra, and am currently using standard leaf springs..

i am heading in the direction of a RUF, but do not want to use standard springs.

mine have sagged Almost inverted..

so my ideas were OME all rounds (rears) with leaves taken out.

is there any 50mm leaves that will not raise it wayyyyy to much else where or i can find at wreckers.

i remember seeing 626 wagon springs come in somewhere??

any ideas would be great..

So in saying that standard rears all round?? i am after a lil more movement out of the front.. the rear of my car moves awesome!

I am still running WT spacing on the front.. maybe shouldve moved to NT when doing the conversion...

If you run OME's and de-leaf them until the sit flat, you will have dreadful, uni joint killing axlewrap.

We struggle with excessive axlewrap with RUF running 3 or 4 leaf OME rear packs, and that's SPUA. Add the leverage of SPOA, and you'll be all over the shop.

Why don't you want to use stock springs? You can't have everything - SPOA requires more spring rate than SPUA, so you can't run long soft leaves - you need more rate and better axle control.

If I was to do another spoa (which I never will) I would use stock rears all round,and yes nt spaceing will make it really flexy , maybe too much

I'm running standard springs with only 3 leafs in each pack. I'm no ruf but.

Why not get some reversed wrap mains made up. That way you will still have a spring with some arc (not dead flat or inverting at ride height) with a lower effective static lift.

Also with the reversed eye, your spring will be less inverted when its under full compression.

Steve, axle wrap will be a biggy i no.. just putting the feelers out there..
looking at standard rears with RUF, have nothing against standard springs, just want a bit more movement over the standard fronts atm.. ..
this is the reason i am asking questions. never experimented with SPOA before.. but i respect your opinion.. thanks..

so they use the main and reset it to stop the axle wrap? and flip it?

go look at lovells suspension... the eye of the spring is below the leaf, so effectively about 20mm lower.

flat springs are the best though IMO... providing you can utilise the up travel.

here's near new hilux leaves spoa with a trac bar:


its now running just the 2 main leaves as the little one served no purpose.

The springs are short.. so that doesnt help either.
But its half done. I did the rears on the weekend. havent done the fronts as i need longer brake lines.

Watagans. Mine was same in that huge rut. Gimme 30mins i will show and tell my last leaf setup on a swb. There is also a post called 'longer springs' if you search.
