ok guys iv been searching and cant find nothing im looking for


now i got a 31inch tyre on the spare holder
people are telling me to take it off because its to heavy..

now has any body put a 31 inside the cab with still beaing able to have 1 back seat ?

iv seen sheps 32 in there but he had a hard top and my soft top canopy proberly couldent hold it like a hard top...

i still want to be able to have 1 back seat for my littel girl and fit my littel dog and maybe some other shit so i think mounting it like sheps tyre wouled be the way..

any ideas guys ? or even better any pics ???

yep i copied sheps idea
perhaps you could put your main cross bar a little lower so it lines up with
the side of your tub the vertical piece on mine is more for stability than load bearing as the tyre shoulder rests on the edge of the wheel arch

If I had my little girl in the back, I wouldn't be relying on the cross bar to hold anything. Maybe paranoid, but best to be safe.

yeah i feel the same way about her aswell but she is in the car maybe once every 2 mounths or some thing...

but where els can i put the stupid tyre !
i cant have a basket because the gay canopy cant hack it and i dont like the idea of a exo cage busket thingo looks shit...

maybe just put the tyre on the roof and strap it down lol

You need a skinny tyre like the one on my zook... i think it would measure around 31 inches, but not sure... It looks a little dodgey, but from a practical perspective it's perfect as you could mount it on the door and still have your daughter and beast of a dog in the back. I'd sell you mine, but i have a feeling i will be remounting it soon, cos my little boy will wanna come wheeling soon...

buy another spare holder make a bracket in the car .
when you have your daughter in the car put the spare back on the back for that trip ,
moving it six times a year or so is not too bad for peace of mind and for most of the time the load is off your tailgate.
i put mine on the back door when i need the room ie camping trips ect.

A compressor, a plug kit, a spare valve stem and leave the spare at home.

I don't remember ever seeing a Sierra with a puncture. I have seen plenty of tyres fall off rims, but that's an easy fix.

If you have to run a spare, run a 7.00X16 bar tread on a 16X4" stock sierra (or LJ rim) on the stock mount.

Seriously, leave the spare at home. They are a waste of time on a sierra.

We're hugely abusive on our tyres and it's just not an issue.

once when i had stock tyres on this on i drove over a nail and it ft up the tyre and i needed the spare ! then what...

Pull over, pull the nail/whatever out, plug it, pump the tyre up, keep driving.

Doesn't take any longer than swapping to a spare. Not that I've had to do it with a Sierra, but I've plugged a few tyres over the years.

One of the things about running 31's or whatever on a sierra is that they are stiff enough/strong enough that they are very hard to puncture on a sierra. Stock tyres are extremely lightly constructed.

i've only ever had 1 puncture in my 10 years of driving... and it was after accidentally running over a glass bottle. about 3 days later the glass worked its way into the tyre and gave a slow leak.

I just have my stock tyre to have it driveable.
Will be getting a tall skinny for just in case. Doesnt matter who says "ive never had a puncture/needed a spare" i like to have it.

it'd just bias your diff on the front/rear you chucked it on - but if you blew a front you'd wanna put a rear up front then the spare on the back so steering isnt affected.

My swift sport didn't have one, My ute never had one, and it certainly won't have one when its going, cos where the fuck would I mount a 33?

Just get yourself a GOOD puncture repar kit and a small gammit of tools and keep them in the bus all the time and you'll be fine.

Murphys law being what it is, as soon as you are prepared for a flat tyre, you'll never get one

Just put the smaller tyre on the passenger side and your car will be level for a change

Does the Swift have a can of Green Ooze and/or an air compressor? My mates RX8 only came with an air compressor and no spare.

Tyres don't puncture? I think the fact that even one stock tyre has a rating of a whole sierra has something to do with it.

i've had one or two punctures with stock tyres over the last seven years of owning my car, and a damaged valve stem, that valve stem was the one that meant i had to swap the tyre. the other time(s?) i just drove the car to the tyre dealer who got out his hotrubber gun thing and fixed it in seconds.

Then i went to cuba in 2009 and had a flat on a moped, first time i saw some guy do it manually, so freakin'easy, so i bought a kit from Supercheap and beefed it up with some extra things. Last march i got a nail through the tread. Its still there. i was going to pull it out and use 'the kit' but i have been telling myself its curiosity and not laziness why i left it there. The tyre is holding pressure and so long as i leave it there it will be fine.

Many people might be rolling their eyes right now but it just may help someone reading this. If you have something in the tyre and no way to patch+pump it up leave it in its place. Chances are you'll still get home anyway.

But i always carry a spare, and keep thinking i might get a skinny rim to mount on the bonnet or bullbar if i ever do long expedition type trips

I always carry a spare AND repair kit, even if its a tiny stocker spare. Better than nothing.

Few mates have had sidewall punctures, no way to fix them!
