Does anyone know the law about driving without doors in vic?

I heard because the hinges on my drover are on the outside i can take the doors off and drive?

I think it's more to do with intrusion bars in the doors mate.

I believe the ADRs relating to doors specify lock and hinge strength, intrusion bar strength, etc, but do not specify that doors must be used.

How the hell does a car comply with ADR's for antiburst door latches and hinges if there are no doors to latch?

Search for 'LJimny' it has tube doors. On a 99'jimny chassis.

Doorsless driving is coooollllddddd....well in Melbourne it is!! Get some half doors and throw em in the back, if you do go out without the doors on and kunt(un)stable decides to pull you over.. batta bing batta boom.. your doors can go back on

on a side note... Doorless in a HT thats going to be a killer on the fuel and act as a big windsock id imagine...

depends how iv postioned it.. can protrude, or can be folded inwards so its inside the frame..

Came off the Rat Fink(beach cruiser) its secured via a 10mm bolt on that replaces the upper screen/door frame bolt, if that makes sense.. just unscrew and attach as required.. it lives under my drivers seat in its off time...

All different,
not only different tastes of actual dirt types,
but some dirts are seasoned with bugs,
ciggy buts and flying stones.

Legality is not specifically the real issue.
No doors screams out to Mr Plod to come have a closer look.
In which case You "may" have a heap of other stuff You don't want seen.
So make sure it is legal,
and everything else on car is also.

i got told years ago by a cop that pulled me up that i can run no doors in any car that doesnt have side intrusion bars AND has a lip that your foot has to go over and cant just slip sideways out.

I have driven with both and prefer no doors, but if it is to be driven on the street a half door is a much better idea IMO.

I prefer 1/2 doors. Keeps mud, blackberries etc off of your legs, increases storage room, and provides an intrusion bar if the top of the 1/2 door is done in tube or similar.

My advice is that it is legal for pre intrusion bar doors so long as a mirror is fitted. There's only a requirement for an anti bust latch etc if a door is fitted - like a spare tyre - you don't have to have one but if you do it must be legal.

PS its also legal AFAIK to drive a sierra with the screen folded.

Any legislation that can be shown to a policeman on the side of the road to back up those statements? I don't think they will take az as law
